Hi guys.
Just a real quick review of the 30 Cal as it had its baptism through fire at last Saturday's game.
First some pictures:
First of all price. I got mine on a pre order deal and including shipping it came to £785 Dollars. Now i ordered it last October and there was better exchange rate back then but it worked out just under £500. I then paid a furthur £115 on import duty and handling fees. So about £615 in total. Now if you ever handled one of the Viva arms this one will seem very familiar, thasts because its a clone. However the Viva arms one is heavier as it has more steel where this one uses more aluminium. One upgrade agaiant the Viva arms one though is the box mag. As you can see in the pictures there is a red button on the side of the Ammo tin, this is a feed button for the rounds which you have to press to get feed the round through. This was however removed and now when connected you just pull the trigger and it fires and feeds at the same time.
How did it fire?
Well its FPS with a 0.2gm BB is 300 bang on This is worrying as it comes with a really beefy spring like a m120? So there is a major airloss from the cylinder or hop unit so this will be sorted before the next game with a new top end set. But 300 FPS is is fine for some guns, however this gun has 1 major flaw and this is that it has a hop which can not be adjusted. However many people removed the hop units from the VIVA ARMS ones and repalced with Tokyo Marui P90 Hops which makes them adjustable! (This is on my list to do for the next game and Engineer is currently selling a Viva one on the forum which has this exact mod already done) It uses a quick change spring gear box but to change the spring you will need to take off about 10 screws the rear handle and i think top sight, which is not "quick" but if your one comes 400 FPS you can change the spring without cracking open the gearbox.
Does it fit real steel pintles etc?
The anwer would be yes and no. If you order the basic package it does not come with the tripod (which i chose) but comes with a pintle. First thing i did was try the real steel pintle i had at home. It did not fit as the holes were too small. But with the "toy" pintle it did fit my real steel tripod but was baggy and there was movement in every direction but did lock in. However a quick going through Doug's turret drill has made the holes wide enough so it now fits real steel pintles for tripods and now fits jeep mounts too!
Would i recommend?
Well yeah its a 30 Cal! But... I was hoping that we may seen a few more affordable decent WW2 guns but with the current dollar price and it being put back up to full price it would cost over £900 to order one in to the UK. Gunfire in poland is now stocking them but only with the complete set with tripod for 1500 Euro. You don't pay any import tax but it still works out to be £1350..., before shipping.
Any questions please fire away and I will try best to answer them.
Cheers
