im getting a Kar98k wood stock + accessories for about£110, i think its getting imported because the guy gave me a quote in USD, but the prices on the site is in Euros. If its bieng imported i want to know the following thing before i order it;

Because im under 18, i need a 2tone gun. Is it illegal for me to import the parts (i.e the stock, foresight etc) for me to convert my non 2tone gun (bought before the VCR Bill) to a WW2 one?

I really dont want it to be stuck in customs and then the rozzers come sniffing around my house

Cheers

Rob

The simple answer is yes its illegal. The two reasons are as follows.
1. Regardless of either the defence given to airsofters, it's illegal to "cause to be brought in to the UK a realistic imitation fire arm" the defence is just that, a defence if it went to court. (from reading the post, I take it that it is just parts you are buying)
2. Buying any part to turn a Imitation firearm into a realistic firearm is manufacturing and is again illegal unless you have a defence.
there are threads on this subject. Don't import unless you qualify for one of the exemptions or the defence of being a member of a skirmishing site. You run the run the risk of being charged with a criminal offence and a significant amount of time in custody.

Parts are exempt from the VCRA, it covers only fully built realistic imitation firearms. The maufacturing offence still stands.

I'm not so sure this comes under manufacture of a RIF though. Seeing as the gun in question is legally owned (bought before Oct 1st '07) and its parts that are being imported (not a full RIF) then I cant see the problem here.

IMHO this doesnt seem any different to someone buying any cosmetic accessories for their RIF (such as a different style reciever or a railed front end etc.). I see this the same as buying a Pulse Rifle kit for a Thompson. Its merely a conversion kit for a RIF you already legally own? Its not being manufactured from scratch so that you end up with more functioning RIFs than you started out with.

But thats just my opinion from experience of importing airsoft body bits with a non-UKARA registration.
