It seems you're using an M1 sling, and as I did initially, have slung it in such a way that it is giving way too much room to hang. If you actiually got it like that cause you like it, ignore my assumption. 
Found this pic to show how it can be done tighter, and (according to the place I found it) accurately. Hope it helps.
Oh, and nice gun for a first go!! Can't wait to see what you're gonna be like after some practice!!

See what it looks like with more of a pencil scope on it like the 1 Jackson uses in SPR
