The last few weeks I've been trying to get a Cyma 702 sniper converted to a Springfield 1903, early version finished, to use on the 17th Dec.
I'll try and post a pic, getting close to finished now, not a carbon copy as the 702 (same as Snow Wolf M24)is a bit large round the hop unit area but quite close.
Just have to finish ladder sights, and make sling mounts, get rid of telescopic mount, the hopefully done, quite accurate, and has a very good range.

Nice, is that an original stock or did you carve it yourself ?
Cut from two pieces of 18 mm softwood, glued with pva, then planted two 10 mm pieces of pine to sides.
Then a lot of chiselling and shaping,
I guess about 50 hours, so far. I thought I would try softwood as it was to hand, no cost! Didn't want to ruin a decent piece of wood. I'm surprised myself how well it works with softwood, plus it will get "battle worn" quicker!

Hi will you be able to use the original mag catch ,i used the metal housing block( screwed to the bottom of the hop unit and barrel)
It was mostly un modified,i just made a new catch and spring, out of metal when i did my K98/VSR.
I
One of the bonuses with the 702, as opposed to the vsr model(701), is the mag housing is integral, just screws on the bottom of the barrel, already boxed, that's on of the reasons to make the stock, make the wood fit the mag " box" as I think using an original stock, it would be a protruding problem!
Apart from cost of getting an original Springfield stock, it would then have to have a different mag feed system to look any good.
Andy
Hopefully here's a pic of mag well,
Hi my cyma m701/98k needed a maple leaf hop rubber to even shoot properly the stock rubber was so hard when cold fps could drop by about 150fps,the hop arm has a lot of side to side play(0.5mm)so some baked bean can shims will help there too.I downgraded mine to 1 joule,it wont lift bb's over 0.25 so its seems pointless being 470 fps ,its much better and safer downgraded and you can engage from any distance.
in fact it can't over hop a 0.25 bb,but i have not tried filling in the gap bettween the 2 prongs on the hop arm yet is a slow burn project, tear it down and improve a couple of things and test, its a never ending process realy.
if you get a downgradeto a different spring and it shoots a bit low ,a 60mm spacer behind the spring seems to add about 50fps if that info helps.
oh yeah and i forgot to say nice work dude
Thanks,
I have already upgraded to a steel cylinder, metal composite piston, running about 480fps, has a maple hop rubber and delta nub. It's not bad at all, does 70 metres, using .30's-32s. Have got Airsoft pro hop unit for it.......but have put it somewhere safe......and forgotten where that is for the moment!
Already done the shim bit on original hop, only the odd low right shot, the rest, quite accurate. I will buy a tight bore barrel for it soon "crazy jet". Have fitted some to customers pistols, work very well with all the other upgrades, and now they do long barrel versions.
The only real down side to this 702, it does have a tendency to miss feed every now and then, jams cylinder, release mag , bb drops out, and away we go again, as long as you don't force the bolt/ cylinder and not crush the bb, works on. Crush the bb, spend time picking all the bits out!
Andy.
Hopefully there's some pics uploaded!
Kelly asked me to post up some more info on the conversion,
For the inner barrel, I used 12mmx1mm tube, about 355mm long, giving it full cover, you don't have to do the full cover bit, I just reckon it's less bits and pieces in the end. For the outer that was 16mmx2mm using about 177mm in length tack weld on the end.
I cut the original barrel to about 295mm from the breech end with it out of the bolt receiver completely. Then using a 20mm ally piece as an intermediate between the original outer to the new steel inner( I say inner, it's not the barrel itself, that slides up inside the 12x1 tube)
The butt plate was just a piece of flat sheet 2mm thick, by 150mm square. The banding is 10mmx2mm strip, I think I bought most of the metal from Wickes builder merchants.
A few more pics,
I have stripped it down to fit new trigger box, new hop unit and tight bore barrel,......of course nothing fits!
Pics!
A few more,
I haven't yet changed the bolt arm yet, I will try to make one from steel, (when the weather gets better) and try to copy magazine shut off and safety levers. Also trying to source something that looks like the firing pin pull, might try and use a drawer handle pull knob, if I can find one approx to size.
