Have had this sten for some time now, but not used it a lot, and never had any problems before with it.
Looking over it to do a make over, was going down the mp28 route, but now many people have done this, so I thought upgrade on the MK ll look. Fitted a channel stock, will fit battery in a wood infill.
Checking out how the battery was going to fit thought I'd fire it up.......switch problem! Tore it apart,(as you do) to find the pony switch idea that they fit in, total kack! Two metal strip contacts connected to fire by the trigger bridging across......using monkey metal as contact!
This has blown bits away not unlike poor arc welding.
Cleaned contacts, wrap round the trigger contact area with a strip of thin brass, superglued on, back together, works better than it ever did.
