I know they look good but like all gas guns is the power consistent or does the range drop with each shot
Free speech is expensive these days!
I'm sure Kermit has the definitive advice but I took my new (well s/h) K98 out for it's first outing at Churchills.
Well, I say I - actually I couldn't prise it out of Orky's hands for the two days.
I had fitted it with the G&G replacement rubbers, used green gas and .3 bbs.
Orky carried 4 mags, no hitches in loading, firing, power or range - and he got some splendid kills too.
Che took his out for the first time at CR and was really impressed with it (and says huge thanks to Neilblume for the loan of extra mags, he's very grateful). Fandanglos had the G33 on its first outing too but I'll let him say how that faired as I don't think I asked
I had a good blast at the end of play yesterday emptying a mag of Che's K98 tanaka and was very impressed with how accurate it was firing and the distance I could hit a tree from. I think considering the weather we had for it still to be spot on was more impressive than anything as the rifle really did suffer water and mud at various points but worked wonderfully without I don't think any huge glitches. Mind its sat waiting a blooming good clean internally and externally now Can't remember what he used as ammo other than it was teflon coated
but he did use green gas all weekend with no probs and got a few good kills with it
Note his is stock standard and not been modded in anyway either.
edit to add they were 0.6mm, 4.3g bb's from airsoftscotland and I believe others with the k98's were using the same. And confirmation no problems except its very desperately in need of a clean
Hope that helps?

Naught Naugthy, Now stop posting messages and get me my sten(Only kidding mate)
John - the hop adjuster is very sensitive, small turns of the screw needed once you near the right place. Once the perfect spot is found it seems to stay tuned. Forester added some PTFE tape to the screw thread to prevent it moving, I used inelegant gaffa tape. At some point I'll try with diffent weights of BB's - Keith used .43's and they still seemed to travel well and has a nice thwack on impact!
I'm wanting one as well, so all the advice and info. gleaned from CR is all to the good - thanks guys. They are pricey, but very nice replicas - BTW, where are you thinking of getting yours from?
A 98K with a upgraded VSR mechanisim in would be fun, there is someone selling somthing similar in the for sale thread:

The VSR takes 30 mins to upgrade & you can get it up to 500fps +, replace the piston sear & trigger sear, piston & spring, very easy but some clones push 450 fps anyway so may be worth just seeing how it goes.

I have just brought a JG BAR-10 from RSOV which I plan to use as a base for a custom kar98 and it is superb bit of kit.
unlike the MP001 it is 100% TM VSR compatible so all the laylax and PDI upgrades will go straight in. In some respects it is actually better than the TM VSR as the cylinder doesnt have a pin which you have to drill out before you can open it. this is widely considered to be the best quality sniper to come out of china so far, the build quality is very good, even by TM standards and whats more, it shoots at 415fps straight out of the box!
With 5 minutes work to simply cutting down the lenght of the airbrake on the end of the cylinder it is now shooting at 440fps, with a few more little tweeks like improving the nozzle airseal 500fps should be easily achievable.
really quite amazing for
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
