Yith, DieselMonkey and Gadge should maybe be able to answer your question.
Might have to wait until next week, there's a CiA event on this weekend
I've done the lanyard loop mod on mine and Gadge's M10's. I drilled a hole in the base of the grip, and inserted a split pin with a metal loop, then put the split pin through the drilled hole and bent it over inside the grip. It's certainly been tough enough to withstand being dropped my me and being caught by the lanyard.
As for the filling tube, i've still got mine, but some of the longer nozzled gas bottles will just about fit without it. Failing that, the extensions/converters that come with bottles of lighter gas may do the trick?
Thanks DieselMonkey,
could I bother you for a picture some day? I am not quite sure what a split pin is - for the danish translation in the tool shop...
Not sure what the translation is, but it's one of these:
with a small metal ring in the 'loop' part. you can see it, here:

There's a washer just to make it tidier, too.
Hope that helps!
It just occurred to me reading this thread that a British pistol lanyards might not fit my 1911. Does anyone know if commonwealth troops who used 1911s had them on Yank lanyards or did they just not bother? I failed to find any pics which sorted this out.
*Mods feel free to move/edit if this goes too far OT*

I use my colt .45 with my brit impression, I just use a brass ring to loop the lanyard through.

I think it's more likely that a Brit lanyard would be used as that's part of the uniform rather than part of the weapon. You wouldn't see a 1911 in a US leather holster being worn by Commonwealth troops either.
If the lanyard didn't work for whatever reason then I imagine it would be worn without a lanyard.
As I understand it 1911s were either privately purchased, acquired during combat or specifically issued to units like the Commandos. In each case you'd only get the weapon, not the lanyard.
British lanyards do fit on a 1911... You put a little clip on the end of the lanyard and that clips onto the loop on the gun.
Thanks, I'll try and find a discreet way of attaching a clip or a ring to the small loop on the handle. My lanyard hasn't turned up in the post yet anyway, I may find that it works as is.

The clip on mine looks like this: http://onestop-key-rings.co.uk/22mm-lan ... -p-42.html
Though I'm not sure about the 22mm length, that sounds a bit short to me!
Ideally you want one that style in brass though!
Thank you, I should be able to find a clip like that in brass, worth the wait to get it right anyway.

If you do find some in brass, let me know... I could do with an upgrade. I'd have thought a few others would be interested as well.
If you want the correct dimensions of the clip I have right now let me know and I'll check.

I have my 1911 on one like that, but without the swivel.

Sounds like a good idea, knowing me I'd end up getting the wrong bleddy size clip
