... then throw the battery and charger in the bin and buy:

This charger: http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/body_mw6168vd.html

And this battery: http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/bo ... afp-h.html

This is the better version of the one you probably got with the gun: http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/bo ... afp-h.html - very good batteries that fit in every gun I've got but you will need a couple for a full days play.

I'm not sure if a big 3300 battery will fit in the std TM or CYMA stocks - these are the best ones to get if it will fit in your stock - but you definitely want another battery. The ACM ones that come with the guns are getting better but they're rarely much good.

There is a small plastic tab in the standard stocks that needs to be removed to fit a large (3300+) battery. Simply remove the stock, carefully split it (its not glued, just on tight pins) and identify the tab by placing the battery in one half. Easy to remove and means you can get a battery that will give you lots of play (I use a 4300 and have never had it run low).

Have to agree on binning the battery and charger you'll get with the AEG, they are pants and will give you nothing but trouble!

Keep in mind that 2 batteries are better then one. In my opinion, you should buy two 9.6V batteries (cca 1400 mAh each). If one dies, you always have another (plus the one that comes with the gun).

As said, the battery /charger supplied can't be relied on. Do you have a friend with a charged battery you can try? A battery taken from a working gun helps pinpoint where the problem lies. If the gun works then it's a duff battery/charger - if it doesn't then there is some other electro/mechanical problem.

meh get yourself a lipo, smaller battery, quicker trigger response (on semi anyway) get a 11.1v 2200mah and you'll be set, can run a 400fps gun off mine for 2 days straight with no problems, granted Full Auto is illegal where i am, but i can easily fire 2000 rnds and the battery shows no sign of slowing i have a lipo tester and it shows the battery still has 75% charge after that, i still can't work out why people are scared of them, i also run a 7.4 1800mah lipo in my MP40 and it runs fantastic, i will never go back to Nicads and Nimh they are just a waste of time, takes me less than 20mins to charge and balance most of my lipos.

You will go back to Nimh once lipo blows in your buttstock. Theese are dangerous and can overheat and explode when running too much. I have read a lot about them, and trust me it isn't worth messing with them.
Btw anything more then Nimh 9.6V is too much for stock gun, especially china made.

I think this demonstrates the difference between practical experience and 'common' knowledge'.

Chaos has practical experience and is sold on the idea, Wepar has read alarming reports.

I have to say I was very wary when I learned the Sten had a lipo as standard. In actuality it has been a bit of a revelation to me - small, not much dearer than regular NiCd and no trouble to charge.
Of course, if you want to scare yourself shitless then have a look on YouTube!

But I'm sold on the idea - just a bit wary of Chinese batteries and chargers without comforting big name brands giving me confidence in quality and safety!

Have to agree with CW, I was scared shitless of the lipos, but had to have one for my Viva Sten.

So far it's been no problem at all! :D

In fact less than with the NiMHs which I have had smoke coming out of and have melted...

Agreed. And that's an electronics engineer's view, not gleaned from "common knowledge".

I think the point isn't so much against LiPo as the 11.1V part. 9.6V is going to reduce the life of the motor/gearbox parts compared to 8.4V, and 11.V will increase that degradation.

While I have nothing against LiPo, can someone suggest a large NiMH battery for a new Cybergun M1A!?
I already have a couple of small 8.4V that I use in my MP5, but I figure that I might as well go 9.6V and large cap on the M1A1.
