If you want a real wood stock, grip and front end then go down to Chatham Dockyard Military Fare the 2nd Sunday every month. At the last fare there were boxes of the dam things? £40 for the whole set. (Brand new never fitted 50+ yrs old).

Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.
yeah but i bet they arnt machined out to take an 8.4 battery, and its hard wood, beyond the brief of most DIY'ers.
I am a carpenter by trade so it was easy for me. All you need is a 32mm flat bit, a battery drill and a chisel. Take the wood out of the centre of the stock to the depth of the battery + 15mm. Then drill a hole from the top of the stock to the inside of the battery space that you have made, this is for the wires. That was about it for the stock The hand grip has a bit more work again drilling out the inside to fit the motor etc. The front hand grip just screws on. Ok you need more tools than a drimel but with a little time and a small effort the rewards are great. Winter is coming so why not do the work then. No one is saying it has to be done in a day. The finish is then up to you, with a coat of stain then some farnish or gun oil what ever you want.
Note: If you are using the battery that came with the Thompson then a smaller flat bit is used. The stock being hard wood can be hollowed out to take a very big battery as well.
