Hi I'm curently 17 ( I turn 18 in January). Will I be able to order guns off rsov and actually receive them? Im really confused as to the rules of engagement on this one lol.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers , Alex
Simple answer is no. As you are 17 you are not entitled to buy RIF's (realistic imitation firearms.) If they are stopped and they will be stopped, you would be asked to provide various documents to prove that you are intitled to import said gun. A UKARA number is one such way or having a specific exemption. ( re enactor, museum, film/ theatre usage). Regardless of having any of the above the fact of being under 18 years old automaticly stops you from buying a RIF (not ownership, but buying or importing) Sorry if this is a very short answer, but stuck in work. A parent with entitlement to purchase may buy or import and gift you a RIF.
Duh, forgot to add, you may be able to buy them but they will be confiscated by customs and leave yourself opent to criminal charges. Advice, not worth the risk mate. Wait until Jan. Pat

Heh, you got the picture by now I'm sure, but to answer your question directly - CiA have no involvement with UKARA. When you turn 18 just become a member of your local airsoft site that takes part in the UKARA scheme and play three games in not less than two months and then get yourself on the database. From that point on you are able you be sold a RIF.

Thats true...Surely it'll just get smashed into a thousand pieces upon arrving at UK customs. Then sent to you in an envelope. With "with Love, UK customs" written on it?

Sory to necropost but how exactly do you buy guns from RSOV without getting customs on your ass do you like send then your UKARA form and ask them to stick it to the box or somthing i think i read somewhere.
Assuming HMR&C are doing their job properly, the item will be seized when it enters the UK. You will then receive a letter asking you to provide evidence that you are entitled to use any of the defences within the Act (or, in the case of Airsoft, in the Regulations) to import a RIF.
Usual drill is site membership details. If they tell you that "you need UKARA membership" (which has happened to several people I know) then politely point out that you do NOT need UKARA membership, as the entire defence is based upon membership of an Airsoft site (a proper insured Airsoft site)
Don't expect it to be quick though, the seizures department is massively understaffed, with (IIRC) only three people working in it. Oh, and whatever you do, DO NOT USE UPS!!!! as those fucktards make it even more of a ballache, not to mention - as Snyper will tell you - that they think accessories/spare parts are covered by the VCR Act (which they ain't, and there is a letter from Hazel Blears floating around that specifies this!)
PS - yes, ask em to put your site membership details on the packaging as well, it should smooth the process a bit.
