Can someone remind me the dates for CR? Looked on the 'times/dates' thread, but couldn't see any dates.
First post on the booking thread, clearly states June 30th - July 1st.
As does the banner at the top of every page and all of the organiser's sigs!
My bad, sorry!
If Ryton Arms are correct then this means I can use most of my de-ac mg42 to build an airsoft one , contrary to what was said when I asked about it in another thread
. Anyone know the best way of finding out if this is or isn't correct?
Ran this past the guy at work who deals with out Firearms and Explosives licensing. The words that came back were "fucking big grey area. You want to be the one thats up in front of the judge, cos some copper got out of bed in a bad mood?"
What you can and can't buy (without the correct licensing) is pretty clear cut. What you can and cant do with deacs seems to be a lot more foggy (with the obvious exception of cutting any metal work). Either way, better safe than sorry when it comes to fucking around with potential Section 5 stuff.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
That's what I meant by letting Ryton Arms be the test case. It all depends on who's interpreting the law, from the police to the judge.
If someone finds an airsoft modded deac with serial numbers on the furniture that match a deac certificate there'll be quite a bit of explaining to do.
there are plenty of places you can get new or old stocks for ww2 guns if thats what you're after. same for specific parts. however not sure what parts of the mech itself can/cant be imported.
as for the deac debate. I had heard that it was fine to use certain parts of a deac for airsoft/other bits from the owner of my local rifle range whose section 5 certified. but he couldnt be 100% sure as like previous chaps said it was a huge grey area. guess it kinda depends on whether the parts you use have anything tying them to the deac cert.

the thing is, my (and i imagine pretty much everyone elses) deac mosin has different serial numbers on pretty much every part, as they're all bitsa's from soviet stockpiles. i'll still have an unmodified barrel, reciever and bolt.
My personal oppinion is not to use any part of a de act on any part of a firing weapon, whether it is an airgun, an airsoft gun or a waterpistol.
By all means use bits of a deact for patterns and masters in order to make stuff that does fire somthing. Just my 2 pence worth.
