Signed on to play at the Tonga game, German side for a change, have got a Mg 42 ready for spare. Then realised I haven’t got any other German weapons up and running, so I thought I’d better try and finish the mp40 I started about 18 months ago.
Had a fair bit done already but not fitted the replacement hop unit in properly, using an AK 47 style metal one, and then have to set up a trigger switch as I’d done away with the stupid long bar system to the internal switch. Already fitted a gates mosfet some time ago so I thought I’d utilise the little button remote switch that comes with the mosfet kit.
Had a little problem with mag feed but now sorted, fires good and straight, tightbore fitted too. I do expect a few more teething troubles yet though, trigger works really well......for the moment!
Mp40 all sorted, runs at 330 fps, very good range for a shorty barrel, I might even get my short style k98 finished as well.
Finished mag mount trap door, on the shorty, works well, and is quick to change mags, will start on top wood tomorrow,
Here’s a side view,
Top hand guard wood piece first fitting, will be using an AK 47 rear sight, top dead centre hop adjust is in,
A bit more done to this, not sure if it’s going to be finished before the game, but I might get it done close enough, to use.
Made rear top wood clamp, and rear sight platform.
Started on front barrel clamp, I was going to cut down the barrel to use a 16mm tube to represent the barrel end, but I’m short cutting on this for now, maybe do that later. It’s going to have the original piece for the moment, hopefully won’t look too weird.
Finished for now, my short k98/G33/vz24 or something like that, haven’t cut the barrel section, so I might do that later, but it’s ready for the game. I’ve a lot more crap to do before the game (room decoration )so no more time for pop gun alterations .
