Hi Guys...

I !had! a problem with my Mp40 sling ordered from SOF...

It was very very stiff and didn't fit at all on my AGM Mp40...

I Used alot of violence putting it on and that resultet in a broken Mp40 sling...

Where do you guys get your slings from... I would prefer not using a original because i think an original sling belongs on a original gun...

Where can i get the best most flexible sling?

Thanks in advance...

The hole through the reciever on the AGM is too narrow for the SOF slings, even real ww2 mp40 slings may not fit, the answer is to make the hole in the reciever bigger, file or dremel it

Hi Kep,

What you need to do on some slings,... is to oil them up first,... and then pre-stretch them. This makes them more subtle, and easier to attach them through the weapon housing and ring. A little patience is also required. When done, they are spot on, and if pre-stretched correctly, the strap hangs down, as if well worn,.. instead of sticking up in the air, as stiff as a board,.. like some you see.

When oiled and pre-stretched,.. you can dub it down,.. with black polish,.. to give it an aged, more worn look, before attaching it.

A good oil to use is , Saddle oil ,.... from an equestrian supplier.

Hope this helps,... just in case the next sling you buy,... gives you the same problem.

Steve is right,.... if you file and dremel out the slot, this will help,.... although some slings still need stretching,.. to enable the strap to wrap around and button up correctly.

Different re-pro manufacturers have different tolerances on strap re-production,.... I have Three,.. they are all different,... but all have been made to fit.

Never used this supplier,..... seem quite expensive too.
I purchased my last sling from Underwood,...£12.95.
Stretched and oiled up,.... fits my Amg Mp40's fine.

Another vote for Underwood from me. Had slings from a few places, and the RAU one is the best by far. Dressed with KoChoLine and stretched a bit it fits my MP40's perfectly.

Quag - good link. They sell all the stuff I need to deal with some field repairs that having needed doing for a few months :D

Must admit, didn't know about the oiling up and stretching business - hmm, oil, stretching and leather straps - I could get into that - but seriously, got mine from Underwood too. Had similar trouble fitting it but it did go through with a little patience and the application of some Vasaline -

So let me get this straight. On this thread we've mentioned "oiling", "stretching" and "Vaseline" - yet Gadge hasn't posted yet?

Oh, sorry, wrong forum
