I decided to go with the slightly less authentic but safe and reliable option rather than risk messing about with a 60 year old petrol-bomb!
I've rebuilt close to half a dozen Juwel 33's and 34's now. Very, very simple to get working. Replace all the seals (especially the ones in the PRV), repack the spindle with graphite "string", pressure test the lot, prick the jet and away you go.
One thing Boshman, never, EVER let it run dry! it chars the wick that runs from the burner head down into the reservoir, and dont use any pan over 8" diameter, they reflect too much heat. The PRV goes and you get a lovely 6 foot jet of flame coming out. Oh yeah, point the PRV away from you when using it...
As to excitement level, its at 7.125 - slowly rising.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
OK, I am starting to lose sleep - I must be at an 8.
Only problem is that I've been suffering from viral laryngitis for nearly 2 weeks now - I will definitely be there, but just nodding sagely at the social event, rather than talking.
Is the pub German-friendly ?

No idea. Kinver is a bit of a back water, so, I'd suggest the answer is most likely "no".
Finally, my level of excitement is starting to climb!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Pub!? Where we're going, there are no pubs.
On the up side, it's quite near where Robert Plant lives.
Officially Pissed Off - excitement factor minus infinity
Waiting for Evil Wiggins to reply to a PM

It's a fair old schlep.

No, not me and I wouldn't go to one even if there was!
Typical! The one game where I can go to the pub without worrying what I'm wearing upsetting the locals and there isn't one! I demand an immediate change of game venue.
My level has just gone up a notch, as my Garand is now ready to be used! (Not 100% finished but, useable).

There is a portaloo in the car park (local pub would be a more savoury alternative!).
What's this? Scotch mist??

I'm quite sure there IS a local pub somewhere, there must be, I believe they have them all over the UK.

The local pub is in nearby Wolverley, but that won't be open in the morning and is a drive away.
Alternatively you could take a McShit at the local McD's and there is a Sainsbury's in Kidderminster. The other option is to head into the woodland and bury a land mine. Beware of local walkers though.

i always found it more fun to "surface lay" either long brown "bar mines" by shuffleing forwards , or do a circular motion with the hips as you lay it, this leaves a more traditional "round mine" , dont leave any paper behind as a marker, its a dead give away, just leave them out on the floor, they tend to blend in well enough, if you really must camoflage them, just cover them with leaves
always a real chuckle when someone treads in one
"Take that you rotton helping of strawberry flan!"
Joseph Porta to "strawberrys and cream", in the sven hassel book ,ogpu prison

Cheers for the good (if slightly scary) advise Jay. No worries on the pan size, the only thing i'm ever likely to put on it is my Kochgeschirr
Webbing and field gear all sorted now, excitement rising to a 9.
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942
Yay, I took this afternoon and tomorrow off sick - still struggling with the voice. Friday and Monday already booked as holiday.

9 now I've received my Sharovari Trousers and they fit. All my gear is packed, just need to put another coat of paint on the mosin's front iron sight and charge the batteries for Carly, then we're ready
I'll be packing on Saturday morning.
Right, I'm there now. All excited. I have ordered foodstuffs that I have convinced myself are kind of realistic enough, Plonked my stuff together and thought 'that'll do nicely' and... Well that's it, but I'm still excited. A comfortable 9 I think.
