I'd like to keep the British contingent looking distinctly errr British.

Given the free hand 30AU seemed to have then this gives us pretty much free reign. Which is nice as those with incomplete kit need not feel out of place.

So, where to start?

OK, the head. Remember that out recommendation is to wear a helmet - the Tommy helmet has a very distinctive outline for recognition in the gloom so this is good. Late MkIII or MkIV versions are great but MkII is fine. Airborne helmets are good too - looks the biz with denisons and you don't have the lip so can hug a wall a bit closer...

For those who want to take the risk then a cap comforter is nice and easy and will keep you warm in the chilled damp air. Otherwise a commando green beret (with RM badge if you wish - period would be Kings crown, but modern ones are cheap to pick up and meh, it's dark down there).

Options for the body include shirt and jumper (light brown/beige), battle dress blouse (wool or demin), denison, jerkin

Trousers could be BD wool or denim.

I suggest wool clothing in preference to cotton - it's chilly down there and cotton will get sodden with kneeling. Talking about kneeling - Gadge has suggested wearing knee pads under troos. It's a good idea, kneeling on a BB hurts like buggery!

Boots - if you want to intimidate then wear studded boots but as the floors are smooth and often wet concrete then for H&S reasons the preferred option would be something black and rubber soled. It helps being sneaky too! An other option is to wear Yank Corcorans should you have them.

Webbing could consist nothing more than a belt and canvas bag all the way up to a full set of webbing pouches. You won't need to carry water (leave that at our base) or use an etool (don't bring it) or carry kit with you in-game (pack game bits and bobs in a small pack and leave at HQ.

Weapons - whatever you fancy. While there are some long corridors much of the action will be fairly close up so any low powered guns you have will be fine. We wil have a much lower ammo limit for this game so low caps are not a disadvantage and rattly hicaps may well be a disadvantage.

None of the above is a requirement - just suggestions of a loose framework to keep our distinctive 'Britishness'

Right, that's a start - post up comments and I'll add/delete as we go (forgive me if I clean up posts from time to time to keep things tidy).

Just a note on headgear. As far as I know this is a very late war game, hence MkIII Turtle helmets should be fine. Or MkIV as although they're post-war the difference from MkIII is minor. Also Airborne helmets tend to look better with denisons than MkII Tommy helmets

I will have all 3 of these helmets with me, all with very large liners and will lend out all but one of them (cos I'll need one)

BTW, green beret should definitely be the preferred headgear for the safezone.. :)

For boots DMS are ideal for this... I'll be wearing mine! Yank boots are also an option, with the advantage of rubber soles. There are pics of SAS/airborne/commando(etc) with Corcorans, so why not 30AU?

None of the above is a requirement DT - please don't buy anything especially for the game.

As you will have seen, kit levels are chosen by the soldier for the job in hand not a list enforced by an RSM! So we have a free hand for the game - which is handy! (Anyone would think we planned these games... )

I'll be wearing an Airborne helmet so will have a MkII available for loan...

BD troos with knee pads, webbing, Airborne Helmet, Marine Beret, and thinking of wearing a wool jumper like the one seen being worn by the commander of Lovets Commandos in the longest day, will bring a denison along incase, will deffers be looking around Sabersales the day before for little bits of kit.

I don't think Luftwaffe kit is going to be British enough for this game so will have to buy some kit.

Already got webbing and boots, but as has already been said, it will be damp and chilly down there and I will need a bit more kit than this

Sure, I knew you'd obviously be wanting to kit yourself out properly, but the offer stands if it helps you out. :)

I'm going to be bringing along my Thompson and my pistols as back up, but I have a bad feeling about my Thompson being over the limit, I chronoed it yesterday and it came out at 270fps, the next round out was at 360fps, as it is new I think that it needs bedding in, most of the rounds were around the 320 mark, is there anyway to drop the FPS at short notice or are any of you going to be taking a spare gun that I my be able to use if mine is still playing up?

I will be bringing some spare guns, but others have first dibs on them, if their Thompsons are hot!

I wouldn't worry mate - sounds like a lot of people are using pistols anyway. :)

I will bring my thompson, see what its like fps wise but if we are all walking into the tunnels with just pistols the Germans may think they have the upper hand, I don't want to be swamped with MP44s
