Just wondering how many guys are loading out as Hohenstaufen ss for the Arnhem event, need a cuff title myself got all the other stuff. It would be nice to get some photos of a large group of airsofters from the same unit.

Yup, i'm doing Hohenstaufen as well. Not looking forward to sewing the bloody cuff title on. Was hard enough putting one on my Luftwaffe HG fliegerbluse :?

BTW Kermit, Hohenstafen aside for a moment, if you're still interested in a Kubelwagen, there's a metal kit for sale on e-bay Germany for a buy now price of 5,000 E or something like that, personally I'd prefer a BMW combo, much more fun. Anyway, at least thats two of us for the Hohenstaufen so far, any more out there?

Got a Nordland cuff title on at the moment, which came with the jacket, just gonna chalk around the old title take it off with a kraft knife and hand stich the Hohenstaufen one on, job done, no sweat. BTW the old title is 20 cm from the bottom of the sleeve to the base of the title, not that I'm a stich nazi, but seem to remember seeing some comments about that somewhere on this forum. Anyway T
three Hohenstaufers and counting!

Nah, stitch counting is when you look at 50 pics to find the exact stitch used to attach an Eagle to a FJ jumpsmock, and how many people would do that?............oh. shit. yeah - I did

You guys up for a ten minute photoshoot at lunchtime then?

If so, i'll chuck some props and cameras in the car :)

LOL, dont worry about it matey - thats the joy of WW2 Airsoft. You can take it as far as you want when it comes to realistic loadouts, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal choice.

It's up to the individual to do what they want, and not upto others to look down upon people "just because they havent got X or Y" or "patch Z is sewn on incorrectly"

My 2p on the subject :)

Look meine Herren , you are starting to get as gay as the Allies with the stitch nonsense . And believe me they are in disarray as to whether the South Staffs had pink or purple masscara on for the jump.

Glue your cufftitle on if neccessary , but wear it with pride.

*bets no one has ever said that in airsoft before*

I'm proud of you guys !

Kermit, I'm definatley up for a photo shoot, cos I want to post one or two on the North East Skirmish Club web site, see if we can get some recruits for ww2 stuff.
What props have you got in mind, I can bring a panzerfaust, a couple of stick grenades, a belt of MG ammo and some binos to the party. I'm gonna loadout as a sturmmann, with K98 or mp40 feldgrau jacket, oak A trousers and helmet cover. BTW Oldsweat are you with the Hohenstaufen geezers on this one? Or are you with the Wehrmacht?

Stubblehopper - i've got some 'fausts, a few ammo tins, and some Stick grenade cans. Plus a few more bits and pieces. More props the merrier I say :)

Good point about getting the pics out and about on t'internet - get as many recruits as possible...

Jackboots in the bath? well, you know what they say - there's a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"!

I've only got gaiters and ankle boots myself, don't think the wife would like it if I wore them in the bath somehow.
But I've also got a couple of spare loadouts, an oak A smock and keilhose set up and a pea dot uniform, with some bits of webbing, which I can loan out to any noobs for the day, if anyone needs a set up, just ask and I'll bring it along.
Neil, it might pay to see if you can contact those guys you mentioned in your earlier post and see if they want to play. Also, if the photos are good enough we could try an artile in a couple of mags, who knows? I'm so excited now, I'll have to visit the toilet with my tin hat on and count some stitches.

OK boys - I still like the idea of doing HG but might take some time to do it proper like.

Meanwhile, seeing as
a) I have all this lovely Oak A camo (tuninc, trews, smock, peaked cap and helmet cover)
b) I've not actually bought my insignia yet
c) I'm a touch more relaxed on the whole SS shock horror thing
d) this will be my first official WW2 event
e) I can be a team player (albeit a fat miserable grumpy one)

Can anybody give me the brief rundown on what insignia to go for as a Hohenstaufen enlisted man (not after medals or awards)

I've started my research on the HG thing rather than SS so some advice would be appreciated.

I'm presuming nothing at all for the smock or helmet cover (cept for some local foliage)

Nowt for the trews.

For the Cap - ?

For the Tunic - Eagle thingy on left arm?, some shoulder boards (black with white piping?), some collar tabs (black SS on right, plain black on left?), Hohenstaufen cuff title on left arm? anything else?

Cheers

Andy

Any of you guys up for the singing of the Panzerleid ? see song for 3rd Reich thread .
Personally going to swap allegence to the 9th SS for this event , given the amount of Hohenstaufen lads knocking around !

Stbf - are you going to transfer from Das Reich for this event ?

Off the top of my head...

SS EM's collar tabs. Sigrune on the right, plain black on the left.
SS Eagle and Hohenstaufen cuff title on left arm.
Black shoulder boards. White waffenfarbe edging for infantry, pink for panzer.

For the M40 overseas capa and the M43 peaked cap, Totenkopf and SS eagle on the front.
