Is there any plans for another WW2 campaign in the future?

Any ideas of which battle will be simulated?

To an extent future events will be shaped by how well this event goes, ie what works what doesn't work .

There are no firm plans at the moment however various ideas are being kicked around in the background.
A lot depends on where and when events are hosted , F&O will make a superb Ardennes but probably a bad Arnhem . I don't know of any seaside sites so a DDay landing might be hard to stage , but hey we're open to any sugestions .

It would also be nice to keep the theme of battles close to their historic dates, this BotB is starting on day 2 of the historical battle in terrain not very disimilar , and there's a lot of possible other reenactments , from the St Nazaire Raid , through Italy to DDay plus and the final taking of Germany . Add in things like commando raids against V1 sites ....

We could also look to base things on well known films so some form of Shaving Ryans Privates could be on the map .

I think one of the main principals we have is to try to get the feel of a particular battle/period , rather than just have a normal skirmish with everyone in WWII kit , & we'll know whether we can achieve this in a couple of weeks!

If you have any ideas, please let us know , otherwise watch this space !

Yes there are plans....

Nope we haven't decided what we're doing yet!

This seems like a place to open the floor to ideas though!

Anyone?

:)

I've heard about this before...

Heh... its unlikely to involve anything period...

From what I understand the game is planned to involve a Spec Ops landing at night using RIBs from a Russian Submarine.

It will be a real Sub, not a paper mache model.

It will cost a mint to take part in this.

The last I'd heard was that the game had been planned for 2006, but had been moved to 2007 and was going to take place in South Africa. However I have become a little out of touch with Stirling Airsoft (note the name change) recently.

I did training on Penhale Sands Camp back in 19.... well it was a long time ago  From memory there was a nudist colony on it . I recall abseiling down a cliff in full gear , to then have to wander out amongst a bunch of old naked blokes, one of whom was clutching a frying pan . Odd imagery , probably why it's stuck all these years :D

It is a long way to go I'll admit .

Should it be at this point that I should mention that I had a meeting at the MOD main office last week to talk about using MOD property for film locations?

I have a very good contact within the MOD and could find out about getting hold of some MOD land for use.

It can be very....how can I put this....bureaucratic though and to be honest I don't have the time to get involved in this level of organisation.

If we start to host stuff ourselves then we'd have to go through the whole insurance etc thing... not sure I want to go that far!

Exactly!

Plus the MOD, civilians and fake guns dont really mix too easily.

I've played at MOD sites before (through Stirling) and they're generally very good... Just don't involve the MOD in the organisation and make sure you have time at the end to brush away all the bbs and pick up all the pyro! ARGH!

I know Ian had to spend a fair bit on cash for cleaners after using Copehill Down . The MOD are very exacting about the terms on which you use their property , probably rightly so .

This is my first post so Hello everyone.

Sadly I'm out of the country on the 17th but will definitely be interested in future events. Matlock is just up the road so I'd encourage you to have it again there sometime.

Have a great time and I hope it goes very well for you all.

Cheers

Oh it'll be at F&O only again... its only just round the corner from my house and the site owner is an old friend. :)

The next event may be at a different site though... Quite possibly not far from F&O... :)

F&O would make kickass Burma game!

Or even the approach on Germany, attacking the West Wall cos of all the bunkers.

Phoenix urban woudl make a good Caen or inland of Normandy.
