It has always been banned at open days, I suspect largely through the usual ignorance about what 8mm is and gun energy output rather than explicit clauses in some insurance policy.
Webby DID use his Garand (with permission) at the last day we went to and there wern't any problems so I will compose a missive to Grogan (in the simplest of words

Absolutely, and a private game to boot. Might even get the 'rule' changed for open days too!
I think the only sticking point for open days would be chrono'ing - they would have to do a calculation since the weights would be + 0.34g which they probably couldn't be arsed to do/don't know how. No wait, I'll do a little chart to stick on the chrono!

btw... Gliderrider reckons he got some .27g 8mm bbs... I didn't know they existed!
