Right I've had good look at the allied force so far.
It breaks down nicely to about 9 para and 9 airlanding and the odd RAF aircrew.
Para forces so far are all privates so can anyone recomend a senisb,e chap from this lot to be a corporal?
6. Barrie Quin (Barry and anne) - Parachute Regiment [M14]
7. Anne Quin (Barry and anne) - Parachute Regiment [M14]
9. Eddy Whitehead (Eddy) - Parachute Regiment [Thompson]
10. Dan Carter (Minicart) - Parachute Regiment [M14]
11. Jayson Sladen (Ryans Privates) - Parachute Regiment [M14 Thompson]
12. Ed Davidson (Panther) - Parachute Regiment [spetz... hopefully a thompson!]
15. Steve Ashworth ( Via OS) - Parachute Regiment [M14/ Sten]
16. Pete Grice (Pete_59) - Parachute Regiment [No.4/Sten/Bren]
Either way makes a nice logical senisble 8 person 'section'.
Now take Rich and I aout the equation as well be doing C3 most the day, and take ben out as he'll be badged up as a 2lt medicasl officer.
Webby will be platoon SGT and attached to HQ (i.e Rich and I)
Leaving us with:
Gliderborne
18. Warren Reynolds (warren) - Glider Pilot [Bren, Thompson, No4T]
19. Deno Skimmer - Glider Pilot [No5, Thompson]
3. James Pratt (Orkman) - South Staffs Airborne [Thompson]
13. Syd Barwick (Gliderrider) - South Staffs Airborne [Sten / m1 Carbine]
17. James Pritchard (pritch) - South Staffs [Thompson]
20. Dean Miller - Pte S Staffs. [weapons?]
8. Heb Shuker (H3b) - 6th Battalion The Cheshire Regiment [Thompson]
Another fairly logical 'section' of 7, now glerrider is *already* badged up as a sgt and he went to the last event and really got inot the spirit of the roleplay, i woudl recomened we let him stay sgt and lead that section?
Heb wants to be a cpl, i'm happy with that making her 2ic of that section.
Any objections so far?

Allies can do fixed squads if you like, I think the idea we discussed earlier is what the Germans will adopt (with CWs agreement)
3 or 4 NCOs , clearly marked, and men tasked to them as and when . Rather than try to keep to a squad, we'll detail people to go with Feldwebel so and so . Being clearly marked Feldwebel, so and so should be able to do his own herding of cats...... sorry players. Fixed squads fail when people don't know each other , although commonality of uniform might help you .
Agree Guy, fixed squad thing didn't work as well as I had hoped last time and would be much happier ramping squads up and down and tasking sections on the fly.
Gadge, out of those in your first section that I know Jayson is vocal/active/experienced to be corporal, not Eddy or Dan for sure.

I'm sure sqauds wil become adhoc but i'd liek them set upi to start with for the initial deployments you see. Just feels more right, as with the real battle, adhoc battlegroups are bound to form. I would just like to to appear to have some method.

Sorry Gadge, I was refering to our side where we are going for flexibility - do what you like with yours, that's cool!

yes gadge... squads need to be set up at the start and then fluid as the game progresses...
maybe set them up again after lunch.
Hebs wants to be with Webby... Help him out... not sure how that'll fit in.
Jaysen Sladen is good in command for the paras... he's commanded loads of people in the past and does shout out when needed. The only other I know is Ed Davidson... and he'll be the first to admit command isn't his forte!
Syd has minimal airsoft experience... I think... but yes his heart is in the right place... May be worth getting warren involved as an NCO... I expect he'll have enough nouse... but I honestly don't know! Though I suppose he may end up being involved with his half track a lot.
What rank are we going to be gadge? Just so I can sort out my insignia...
I think we should be around the major mark.
I've badged up as major as its a realistic combat rank, anything higher and you're not feasbaly going to be in shooting distance

FYI - German arm bands, nice and cheap @

so we're both going for major?
I can do captain if you prefer...

Top banana ! Do we need five or six ? reckon our crusher hats will serve to identify us, just have em for the NCOs
Six tops (unless we get 50 booked on our side LOL)
The SS ones would be most apt since we are supposed to be two SS Panzer div http://www.epicmilitaria.com/product.php?xProd=413&xSec=14&jssCart=66e3b673577b09fa7cdcf490104f2ab7

Zu befehl Sturmbannfuhrer !!!!!!Sehr gut ja!
I must say despite all my SS misgivings ,I've been considering getting some runic collar dogs and an oak leaf smock just for this event
Go on- convince me I need to spend another ton on this damned hobby. Thats on top of the new crusher and helmet I've forked out for already this month ![]()
You don't need convincing - you've already made your mind up!

Damn- I'm doomed ![]()
Would these armbands do as an alternative given recent grumbling?

Hmmm I have to say that I'm not too happy with the large swastica arm band... I'd rather not have them appearing on all the photos and the video I'm going to be taking...
Not sure about the SS armband though either... I mean you're not all going to be ss are you!
Just use a coloured band? Both SS and Heer used them during training to denote different squads - either round the helmet or the arm. There are also pictures of coloured bands having been used over the white snowsuit during combat as a security feature (after all, one man in a big white snowsuit looks very similar to his enemy in a big white snowsuit)
I can see why some people are against the NSDAP armband, as it's a Nazi party thing, not general military use.
