Okay... aparently the embassy has been burnt down. "Burnt to the ground" and "just the shell remaining" seem to sum it up rather well.

This clearly means that we will need to rethink the way the layout of our game will work. I don't however think this is insurmountable. We need to meet up at the site have another look and rethink...

I've not seen the photes. it's a real shame though that building was a cracker .
I agree we need to meet up to assess the damage and maybe re think the play. I don't think it's terminal either , just a crying shame .

Can do the w/e 24th / 25th but then out until the 14th April . Dont want to play just meet , can do after work as well

Unbeivable bad news... however we can always use the another area to represent the hotel.

I suggest the area behind the trian line next to the embasssy, lets go up this saturday and have another look eh?

I could do saturday... but it would have to be in the morning and not for too long.

24/25 March is completely out for me... I'm running another wargame at a big show in sheffield (Triples)

Can't make this Saturday , but don't let that hold you up , as I'm on a 24hr E&E at IED .
Suggest we need an integral building to represent the hotel, from memory we may struggle a bit with that apart from the medical block which is a bit too central . Just remeber that we wanted ot hand the artwork etc on the walls .
It will still be a good day

PS Cant get into tPU forum, can one of you copy and paste the piccies here ?

I've been wracking my brains this morning for an alterntive. Is the embassy literally a shell, can we still game in it?

Difficult to judge if it has any potential for an alternative scenario at the moment wihtout pics.

My thoughts for an alterntive hartenstein location for model at the moment is either the position aforemetioned or potetially the shower block.

Although that has limited entry and egress.

You kwo this is all our fault, we did demand phoneix made the embassy easier to assault an dtook out a few windows...

Guy... there are no pics on there...

Just paranoid site owners and players looking for some sort of conspiracy against them.

ffs...

It's CLAY CROSS!! The centre for all chav bastards in Derbyshire. There's no need for any sort of conspiracy...

i agree, its totaly paranoid to think its a conspiracy, phoenix woodland used to get kicked in on a weekly basis, urban suffered a fair ammunt of vandalism and illegal tipping.

Its just bored kids causing trouble IMO if you were goijng to sabotage phoenix surley you'd torch the safe zone building where they lock kit up and *need* it to run the site?

Hell, we used to have a MAJOR problem with stuff getting torched up at the old FFR site - and that was in mapledurham (nice part of south Ox's), and the site was a bitch to find as well (just ask Andy W about this - it used to wind him up something chronic)

I seem to remember conspiracy theories being thrown around there as well...

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Heh... Sorry, but the paranoia at phoenix seems to have reached epidemic levels! I just get a wierd feeling when I've been there... As though they think the world is out to get them.

I've not known this anywhere else!

read Daves latest post.

I can see his point.

It is a *big* coincindence but stranger things have happend.

personally i think if you were going to attempt arson and risk a sentence i'd do number on the medical block and the safezone while i was at it...

Seems more likely that the embassy is the most 'habitable' building for getting pissed and messing aorund in if your bored and 17.

Urgghhh ! I take it the comment about it being our fault for asking them to take the glass out was entirely toungue in cheek .
I don't think there's anything we can do to help, other than let them know we're still keen to use the site for our game , and generally be supportive.

Not looking too likely unless i can convince a mate to take me up there.

If we can use the shell nothing needs change if we cant them we ned to use another building simple as, we can make it look hotel like if we move all the wrecked furnityre in

I strongly suspect we won't be allowed anywhere near it, never mind in it!

I'm going to go up on Sunday so I'll take a look.

Spoke to DG this evening - he is well pissed off with current event all happening together. Clearly NOT a conspiracy - woodland and urban being constantly wrecked - but with the vehicles being nicked and this biggy, six fire engines and done midday Saturday too.

Anyway, he was concerned that we might be having seconds thoughts. He pointed out it would make a fantastic background for photos which made me giggle a bit. I doubt the structure will be safe to play in when cleared out but I'll check that out on Sunday. However, as thoughts are turning to where we might use an alternative 'Hotel' he did say that they will be building a room complex within one of the warehouses and asked if we had any preference where and whether we wanted to use it. They are likely to be building over the Easter holiday so it will be done before our game.

Vehicles nicked as well? which vehicles?

Hmmm... a room complex... yuck... Sounds bad to me.

I guess we'll have to see what it looks like.

What we really need is something that looks like a proper building, not just a collection of pallets or MDF boards. I can't see us getting that though!

Ah, negative as always.

My positive point was that DG asked US what WE wanted. As I understand it it will be a breeze block thing - I said that we probably wouldn't be fussed and that we would around the issue, but hey.

I'm happy with a breeze block room complex over nothing.

Idelaly in an unconnected building
