I know it was a joke.

It was much cheaper to be honest, for a start i already had a set of officers webbing i got for £15 of the airsoft forums! Pistol holster, compas pouch, valise, envelope carrier, pistol ammo pouch etc.

My binos are a pair of 1942 baush and lombe i got of a mate for a tenner.

The deciding factors to be a subatlern were thus though.

1) it was the job i trained to do/signed up for (although regretebly injury stopped me from getting comissioned
2) A de-ac webley was £130 quid and and would not really need drawing let alone firing if doing an officers role well... re-enacting as a private or nco would mean a costly bren or sten or rifle
3) The beauty of 'private purchase' and the fact officers could wear either tailored kit or issue kit means that you have less scope for stitch counters saying your socks/shirt/belt isnt right.
4) and the main one is that i got into re-enacting with my ex and we used to go out as young officer in walking out dress and his lady... just a bit more elegant really...

Just seeemed the sensible decision really.

Ah joy!

Would you Kameraden like to to be kept together in your own squad? Could you also give me some idea of the kit you will be wearing and weapons you will be wielding?

With the latest burst of axis bookings the sides have evened up a bit so I've been able to open the allied bookings again.

I'd really appreciate it if people who are not coming but are booked in could let me know so that I can free up spaces for others.

Also please get your deposits in quickly. I may have to start cancelling bookings of people who haven't supplied me with a deposit.

Alex

Uniform, im routing through my bundeswehr and NVA kit to put something together.. most likely a BGS sumpftarn jacket, grey trousers, black leather yoke and belt, east german jackboots. I may always fall back on flecktarn if i look too much like a tart

Weapon, MG3 (passable as an MG42 for the event.. if anyone could lend me a flashider it would help the image a bit) and an AK74 if needs be

I think you're being far too hard on yourself.

An mg3 is the closest were going to have to an MG42 at this event and i'd be amazed if anyone could tell the difference mid game :)

As for kit, same goes, your first choice of kit is more or less what the site owners wearing so its fine BGS jacket and grey trousers!

See you there!
