It would be awesome if we had a pair of working mortars by then. The one we used at Pocket was great (if only they used it strategically
) but it was even better when each side has one as at D-Day +2 !
Such a chunk of scenario and gameplay can be built around them.
Jay - if you are pushed for time then we do have the cash to out-source it.

I'm well up for building another mortar
Yank mortar this time? (easier to build than another German one)
Any other props you think we'll need? Building stuff is something I rather enjoy

How about some of those fibreglass/cardboard pine trees they used in BoB so we can do air-bursting artillery attacks nice and safely?
Ahem, I'm sure there will be stuff that comes to mind after we have done a site visit and knocked up a scenario but I just thought mortars are going to take some time esp. if we get them working, so I got a request in early!

Actually Dave, that sort of stuff is a piece of piss to build. It's mainly polystyrene, glued together and shaved into shape.
It looks great when you det it over snow, but there are issues when it's not snowy as all the white bits show up. There are also issues with litter within the forests.
A different idea would be to hang bags of bark chippings high up and detonate them. The only problem I have is that I won't be there to help set it up on the Saturday, which I'd love to do.

Sod it, I want to do a *serious* arty barrage for this.
I don't mind digging the holes, laying the lines, filling 'em in with compost etc etc. I just want to do something that looks *really* realistic...

I'll get up there nice and early and help you out. Guy and Chommers can do the admin this time!!!

Could I point you towards Anthony's post re panzer is is starting to build: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=5485&start=15
Hi david,
i need to have a chat with you about a in game panzer
im planning on making a mock up Sig 33 ,
(it was going to be a 251 HT, but chassis is all wrong for it)
the size is 2 metres long by 1 metre wide, and it will have a top speed of 4 M.P.H
it has VERY LOW ground presure, (i drove it over my foot today to test it, and no ill teffects) loaded with shell and driver it will be a bit more weight.
would this be ok to use in game, i want to ask before i start a load of fabrication work.
i dont want to do an oddball, and make a thing that just sits in the car park all day.
the sig 33 has an open top and open rear, so it is definatly not bb proof, plus a guy in a wheelchair could outrun it, so it wont really be a game changer , if the allies play it right
im planning on haveing a main armament, using electric dets to simulate fireing the gun, (but with NO projectiles) its would just be in game eye candy and noise
the only weapon on the thing would be my mp40 that i could fire over the shield.
if possible, could you pm me your phone number and a conveinient time to call??? that way i know were "On the same wavelength"
the last thing i want to do is cause any headaces for the orginisers or spoil anything for players.
im posting a wireframe picture of what a sig 33 looks like in the KGSS private forum if you need to see what one looks like (of all the Panzers the germans made, this is the closest i can make using the chassis availible )
thanks , Anthony
Quite apart from the H&S issues I have no idea until we have a site visit whether it would be usable in-game or not. My hunch is that it would be either cool or funny and then be as useless as the vehicles were in Webby's game.
Opinions?

Don't see the point if people can outrun in and simply fire into it. Agreed with you.
S

let him build it , although agree need to look at the site first . Mobile set dressing only
ahaha - I knew it would be somewhere !
Jay - could you get in touch with Tony Lewis about the live firing of the mortars?
His special Mk5/Thermobaric mortar rounds need the steel charge holders, without which the system won't work. Does he supply them or does he have a contact or is it up to us to souurce manufacture? Could do with a price on these as well as the costs of the pyro and also lead times...

Whats his email address? I'm having problems with his website (for some reason, my comp keeps on locking up when I hit the link for contact details)

From experience a phone call would be quicker and easier!
S

Crazy idea - how about hiring a snow machine?

No.

Pryos
I've got a load of 10gms ( enough for a game) left over from a2c . Free to a good cause . Means you only have to buy the bigger stuff.
BTW smoke would work well , in cold air it will hang for longer and be more atmospheric? Love to start the game with a rolling smoke barrage towards the allies and Germans coming out of the smoke at em , or vice versa
Wonder if Tony does long-burn smokes? Not looking for high-density smoke, but a "hanging fog" kind of effect.
