If only I was that good on the Concertina.

You are! I recognise that as Katjusha straight away!
Had I been there, I'd have sung along with your playing!

Well done Craig - I also see why you did it - you're the only one sitting down, whilst the others are collecting fire wood!

The highlight for me though was killing Chomley with a stick!
He was in an ambush position, shooting at my comrades as we tried to escape, and so armed with a trusty stick I ran round him and hit him with it while saying, in a poor Russian accent, “I hit you with stick"

Thanks again to everyone involved, was a great weekend :)

you can see you with the stick at 5:02 in the video

Barbarian!!

I saw him break off to my left but there were quite a few walking into my sights so I contented myself with picking them off while listening to the Mindham thundering down the path behind me and braced myself for a shot in the back. None came. “I heeet you viz stick" was a very good ploy - just goes to show you can play WW2 airsoft without the airsoft!

Big thanks to chommers for taking on the roll of the German OC, its never an easy job

No problem. On the contrary, it was an easy job - no blummin setting up a site the day before and carting it all of afterwards!

Anyway, I had a great time. Josh was a complete hoot at the border blabbing away in Ruskie. I was so dumbstruck at his performance that I couldn't even think of anything funny or pertinent to reply, let alone conjure up a convincing German accent  .

The German side performed splendidly, mixing aggressive attacking with sneaky flanking and defending in strength, grinding the Russian back into the mud from whence they came. Porta particularly. :giggle:

Oh, and don't believe the Russian propaganda about German commander's brutality - there were no beatings or executions on my watch.

It was a collective labour effort, and we were very glad of Comrade Wladecks musical accompaniment. Honestly, getting that damn fire going was a labour of hercules, but a great sense of achievement when it finally took.

Cheers

Hmmmm, that reminds me. The whole of the 1st Unit are on charges and must complete the 'bushcrafting' course and get their badges :slap: or face spud peeling for a week

And Wladek will never know how close his squeezebox came to being kindling when he was off on patrol and we couldn't get the fire going!

Thanks for the game all involved. The initial attack on our bunker was tense. Best bit though was towards the end when we had a quick count up - 6 russians with just two springers and an m14 between us with 3 mp40 toting germans ahead - only one thing to do - CHARGE. Fantastic, this was when Chomley got clubbed which was a bonus too.

Many thanks to Josh for putting on this event, had a great laugh and lots of fun each day,

A big thanks to the russians that made it to the event, with out you it would have been boring just patroling around, and a big thanks to Porta and Tiny for the Maxim, thats one hell of a gun you have there.

And to the rest of my fellow Germans, a big thanks for turning up and performing to a top notch standard, one hell of a Blitzkrieg on Saturday.

Cant wait for the next one. :happyswing:

"What, you started it!"

It was huge amounts of fun.
I only fired my weapon once on sunday but it was still a great day. I walked miles and got spooked by a deer.
I think the Soviet side could stand some more troops in a similar game. Make those Fritz work for their victories.

mr portas special firemaking brew

Our supplies of special firemaking brew had been stolen by defeatists and saboteurs. Next time however.....

One thing I'd really like to know - did the Germans actually know how few of us were holding the bunker on the Russan right (German left) before they attacked? Had they managed to sneak a recce over the border or did they just count heads or just charge and hope for the best?

Cheers

Yes we did - had a small recce party behind your lines. Comings and goings from the border positions were also observed. All intel pointed to a weak sector (our) left of the road to Moscow.

Oh dear, I can see another charge coming, that makes three!

i) failing to demonstrate the correct socialist bushcraft
ii) referring to the fascist capitalists using incorrect terminology
iii) allowing fascist capitalist spys to violate the Motherland

I bet it was you lot who nicked our firelighters.

Cheers

:giggle:

Seriously, we never saw 'em... and we did roam out a bit into our surroundings.... It wasn't all 'sitting by the fire and playing songs'.

I know we were surrounded when your final charge came, as we watched me medic move around. But you were there beforehand? blimey, those sneaky Germans.

Good, you weren't supposed to :giggle: . Two men on recon, strict instructions not to engage - obs only. Mind, I was a bit alarmed when I was standing on the border and both of them came crashing through from the Russian side and crossed over to report to me having got a bit disorientated. :slap: Thank gawd the Russians had vanished from border and didn't see them emerging! The assault all came from our side of the border though, in a classic blitzkrieg, punching through one point towards the target. Our pathfinder nearly got wiped out though, starting the charge when the first arty round landed - not knowing there were three more rounds incoming. I might have shouted a rude word or two at that point.

Looks like a lot of fun was had by all :good:

The Bolshevik horde is particularly impressive. My, how far we've all come since 2007.

Nice video - presumably the bare headed German had a strip torn off him by his Hauptmann :giggle:
