I've had a chat with Beaker about the banner... here's what was said:

Beaker,

Myself and a few other ASCUK members are currently organising a WW2 airsoft event at First and Only to be hopefully held on 17th December this year.

As a starting point yo advertising it we're planning on posting a message on the WW2 airsoft forum and also putting the following image in our sigs...

Fluffy mentioned about doing an image for the image banner at the top of the page and we may also want to create a sub forum under the WW2 one for the event if thats okay... we'd like to maybe link this all in with possible events at other sites we may use.

Anyway... this was really just to ask if its okay to use that banner. The rest is still to be decided!

Thanks,

Richard

Hi mate,

Normally for "Big Events" we would only post an announcment in the Big game forum.

On the basis that F&O were one of the few donating sites I would also be happy to add a banner at the top of the page as you would have seen as it is advertsing for them as well. Depending on which site the event is being held will determine on the banner etc but i am sure we can iron out the smaller issues nearer the time.

The img is fine in size for both a sig and banner for the advertising.

If you are intending on running regular events at various sites I cannot see why you cannot have a forum for this. I would say that the WWII would be the best place to gain interest as opposed to the Skirmish site forum.

Let me know and we can sort things out

Cheers

Neil

Thanks Neil...

We'll start off with the image in our sigs then and when we're getting further down the road move to one in the top banner with a link to the website we're planning (or the forum if we go down that route).

BTW this event is only being organised at F&O its not really got a great deal to do with Gucci per se and is being organised by 5 players (me, Gadge, Chomley Warner, Oldsweat, Headshot) most of whom aren't even members of F&O... though I think many of us did donate privately to ASCUK :)

Anyway thanks and I'll keep you posted as to how we go!

Richard

I've posted an edited version of the press release in the WW2 forums:

One day Airsoft WWII Midlands event

The Battle of the Bulge – A Clash of Eagles

December 1945:

As the world prepares to enter a sixth year of total war, Hitler’s forces mass for an irresistible all-out attack upon the overstretched Allied lines and make a desperate gamble to seize the vital port of Antwerp.

Can Patton’s 3rd Army group aided by a small contingent of plucky Brits of 30 corps hold the line against Pieper’s elite SS and Von Der Heydte's fearless paratroopers in the dense and stygian forests of the Ardennes?

Choose your side.
Will you be a Teutonic veteran of the Eastern Front spearheading the Reich’s bold thrust across Belgium? Or will you skirmish as a fearless defender of liberty for the Allies? Both sides will have to contend with fast paced battles and vital reconnaissance, blending stealth with aggression to achieve their objectives and final victory!

What do you have to do?
Don’t worry if you don’t have a WWII loadout or AEG, we’ve compiled a special guide that allows you to construct a ‘good for gaming’ WWII outfit for your chosen side for less than the cost of a couple of hi-caps!

And you don’t need to necessarily have a WWII AEG, we’ll supply you with a list of ‘counts as’ AEGs. For example your M14 can represent a Browning BAR automatic rife or an M249 might represent a German MG42 machine gun.

Where is it?
We’re staging this battle at First and Only Airsoft’s excellent Matlock site. We believe its dense terrain reflects the impenetrable Ardennes forests perfectly and is a central location for most UK airsofters to reach.

When is it?
The event is pencilled in for the 17th December 2006. Thats just one day and 62 years after the real events of the battle. However we don't have 100% confirmation of this date as yet. We wanted to allow people to start to get ready nonetheless.

More details to follow

To show the image in your sig use the following BBcode (it will also link to the post I made in the ww2 forums... when we get a website or forum of our own we'll need to change it:

No, that's OK - it refers to the scenario.

Are Beaker/Aitch Ok about using the banner as part of our sigs? They are jumping on folk who are advertising without their OK.

Updated sig code for your ASCUK accounts - hyperlinks to the new web site and uses the image on the web site server (which means I can change it easily and everyone's sig automatically changes.

I just noticed our banner appearing the banner space on ASCUK. It even links to the new website...

Did you have a word with Beaker about doing this or did he manage it himself?

Nothing to do with me, he must have lifted my sig which links to the website. Good to see they are taking an interest.
I got Kermit to use the sig too.
Guy, could you change the code for your sig to the one in my post above (it contains the link to the web site rather than a link to the ASCUK forum thread).

have done now -, just a pedantic note though , it was the 1st US army not the 3rd that took the brunt of the assualt. Pattons 3rd came to the rescue later when it attacked the southern flank of the bulge .
