German Orders for Game 1

Oberkommando des Heeres

Zu Offizier Commanding Kampfgruppe Werner
Von Hauptquatier 1st SS Panzer Korps
Datiert 17th Dezember 1944 0930hrs

Heil und Seig !
In accordance with the plans for Whatch am Rhein as outlined in the divisional briefing of Dec 1st, you are ordered to proceed with the advance along Rollbahn C .
Your objectives are to capture the towns of Malmedy , Bastogne and Trois Ponts to secure the advance of the 1st SS Panzer Regiment who will be following behind your attack. It is imperative that these objectives be kept clear of enemy resistance by the end of the initial assault
RESOURCES
Kampfgruppe Werner
In addition to existing Panzer grenadiers, your Kampfgruppe will have elements of Wehrmatch, Luftwaffe and Panzer troops attached . The Kamfgruppes Command post is as marked .
150th Panzer Brigade
A small detachment from this Brigade is attached to KG Werner . These troops are free to use at your discretion , although suggested missons are :-
Reconnaisance, Disruption of Enemy Communicatrions, location of priority targets such as fuel and ammo dumps, and assassination or capture of enemy officers.
Artillery
Corps Artillery is available, although in limited supply . Artillery must be spotted through the normal frequencies via the CP , In addition a small detachment of 120mm mortars are assigned you for direct fire .
Communications
Communications with forward areas have been disrupted, and atmospheric conditions and terrain are denying radio coverage. Currently communication by runner is the most effective method
Replacements.
Replacements are being gathered from rear areas , and fed forward as they become available. As seriously wounded troops return to your CP, Corps HQ will replace them with fresh troops for as long as transport to the area is available. It is possible that reinforcement will cease after a period. All troops are to carry FFDs and be expected to continue fighting with minor wounds as per Fuhrer Order 186/44 .

INTEL
It is believed that the Americans are defending the front with less than 1 division per thirty miles , and therefore breakthrough should be executed at maximum speed to effect a rout .
Our Panzers are short on fuel and it is believed that there is a small enemy fuel dump in the area, if this can be located and it’s contents secured to the rear this would be a useful achievement , as would disruption to their communications by the removing of strategic road signs.
Further Intel relies on capture of enemy commanders, and this remains a priority objective if opportunity arises .

German orders for Game 2

Oberkommando des Heeres

Zu Offizier Commanding Kampfgruppe Werner
Von Hauptquatier 1st SS Panzer Korps
Datiert 17th Dezember 1944 1230hrs

Heil und Seig !
Following the recent American counter attack and winning of Stavelot and Bastogne , the Kampfgruppe has become split form the main reinforcing force. The forces currently stationed in Trois Ponts must be reinforced immediately by the forces currently in Malmedy before they run out of ammunition . Ammunition is to be carried forward in the two assigned boxes . It is anticipated that if reinforcement does not occur by 1430, then a withdrawal will become necessary .

RESOURCES
Kampfgruppe Werner
In addition to existing Panzer grenadiers, your Kampfgruppe will have elements of Wehrmatch, Luftwaffe and Panzer troops attached . The Kamfgruppes Command Post is as marked . Contact has been lost with the forward elements of the 150th Pz Bge , it is assumed they have all been captured or killed .

Artillery
Corps Artillery is available, although in limited supply . Artillery must be spotted through the normal frequencies via the CP , In addition a small detachment of 120mm mortars are assigned you for direct fire .

INTEL

During the night an enemy spotter plane was shot down in the area . Intel received from radio communications indicates there may have been a high ranking US officer aboard. If possible this should be located, and the wreckage searched for Intel . Any Intel found must be returned to the Command Post .
Further Intel relies on capture of enemy commanders, and this remains a priority objective if opportunity arises .

Hope this all makes as much sense as it did in the pub !

My only concern is that, although objectives need to be taken and re-taken, are there any sub-plots to throw in if things get bogged down?

How about adding my mine sub-plot idea. Just means a satchel full of markers - if it doesn't need to be brought into play it's not a problem, but could be useful to give a couple of bods something to do?

I'll come up with a few sub-plots that we can use in an emergency.

No biggy if we don't.

Just might help if one team dominates to redeploy resources.

Good idea, I reckon there's a fair bit in there to go at, but you never know how these things'll work out on the day .
