Having given it much thought, I've decided that due to ongoing ill health, I'm going to be selling up all my airsoft kit, including the WW2 gear and weapons. It's saddening but they won't be getting used, and the funds can go towards other hobbies that are do-able. I'll start seperate threads for Weapons, Gear and Uniform.

Full set of '37 pattern Webbing, unblancoed, very good condition, consisting -

XL/XXL Belt - this had black furniture, which has now been replaced with brass buckle and keepers, with the rear buckles painted to resemble lightly tarnished brass.

XXL Cross Straps - Custom-made for me, using wartime webbing and fittings, on a wartime Singer sewing machine, so in essense 'original', just recently manufactured. From memory approx 60" long, fits 6'2" tall /52" chest, with enough length to hang a water bottle/tool correctly. Almost impossible to find period straps in this size.

Pair Mk3 Pouches - with tabs, not press stubs, fit 6x Sten/MP40 mags in each.

Water Bottle Carrier - full-sided (prefered by airborne, I believe ?).

'44/Lightweight Gas Mask Bag - decent condition, with original shoulder strap.

-- attachment is not available --

£55.00 - On Hold

'Officers' '37 Web Set, consisting -

Large Belt - brass buckle and keepers, some 'staining' to belt, no rear buckles (I'll throw in FoC a stripped skeleton water bottle carrier that the webbing and buckles could be robbed from to add rear buckles to the belt, if req'd).

Pistol Holster - just fits 1911 or similar (straight top to holster lid, not curved).

2x Belt Braces - were blanco'd RAF blue, but have been cleaned up and 'painted' to resemble unblanco'd webbing (not a matched set, if it matters ?).

1x Compass/Ammo Pouches - average condition.

1x Mk1 Ammo Pouch - converted to hang from belt, via the c-clips, so then similar to a MT pouch.

'37 pattern water bottle - original cork and felt cover, a little wear/mothing (?) to felt cover.

Skeleton water bottle carrier - reasonable, used condition.

Long '37 patt. shouder strap - to 'sling' bottle instead of carrying on the belt.

-- attachment is not available --

£53.00

MkVI/VII Gas Mask Bag -

Reasonably used condition. Pockets had been removed from the inside when I got it (so now just one big pouch), and I've had to replace the small brass D-rings. Has original strap, with half-way eyelet, and a small brass hook on the buckle (assumedly to fix the bag, via the eyelet, at 'high port' when being used during gas attack ??). Stamped with a London maker.

£14.00 - On Hold

Brown Leather Belt, similar to 1908-pattern -

Leather in very good condition, will fit up to "30-"32 waist. Leading end has now been squared off, as per 1908-pattern. Brass buckle is genuine item, and in very good condition. Ideal Home Front, Home Guard, ATS etc .....................

£12.00

Leather 'Home Guard' Gaitors, Repro -

SoF, sz 5. A little thinner/more supple than original HG gaitors, however good size originals are very hard to find, and are then expensive. In 'as new' condition.

£16.00

Bag of RAF Blue Gaiters -

6 in total, 2 now brown - could be blanco'd green or black (CD). All small sizes (sz 2- sz3), so maybe useful for children, laydees or people with legs like Gandhi.

£5.00 ?? + postage

Jack Knife / Clasp Knife -

ABL and 195(1 or 7) stamped, but seems identical to British issue. Has knife blade, bottle/tin opener and marlin spike, with what appears to be a flat-blade screw driver head built into the end and a loop for lanyard attachment. Blades are slightly loose and innards were coated/covered in grease, although I've managed to remove most of this now. Handy, period tool to have for display, or use if tidied up.

£24.00

Block post-war KG3 Blanco, a little crumbly (supposed to be like this ?) - £?? - SOLD

Anti-Gas Eye Shields - £?? - SOLD

I'd prefer to sell in 'lots' rather than split into individual items, purely for ease of dealing with everything (there's a lot of kit to clear). I will conbine lots into box prices - obviously the lots would be ideal for a larger person, looking to start into WW2-softing. Due to the amount of kit involved, and general embuggerance of it all, I haven't taken pics as yet - pics can be provided for genuine buyers.

Sorry for slow reply- what circumference are those brown RAF Gaitors? I'm not sure of how the size ratings transfer to normal, sorry. Also could any of them be Blanco'd or just the brown ones? Again, raging newbie here '>.>

Excuse me commenting on someone else's sale thread, but you cannot blanco leather gaiters, Peeb. Might I suggest you introduce yourself on the New to the Forum section, where you could also discuss what kit you are thinking of getting. That way, we could give you some helpful advice, rather than clutter up this thread. :)

I think you two are confusing each other
You're quite right Peeb, RAF gaiters aren't leather. Leather gaiters are for Homeguard use.
Steiner's quite right too, in that leather gaiters can't be Blanco'd, but I don't think that question ever arose...

All of the RAF gaiters Joker has for sale are webbing material. Two have been painted brown to make them look like leather Homegaurd ones. All can be Blanco'd, but the brown paint will probably need to be removed from the pair that have been painted brown if you wished to do so.

The pair of gaiters shown in the photo are reproduction real leather Homeguard gaiters (which Joker also has for sale). These can not (and should not!) be Blanco'd.

Thanks McV for 'Standing To' in my absence :good:

That's ^ exactly right - I have some 'RAF' blue/grey blanco'd WEBBING gaiters, a pair of which have been coloured brown and waxed, to give the impression of HG leather gaiters; would probably be a bugger to remove the 'browning'. From memory, they were the largest pair.
-- attachment is not available --

I also have a pair of repro leather Home Guard style gaiters, pic'd earlier in the thread, with asst'd. seperate items.

For sizes, the easiest place to look is on the Soldier of Fortune website - http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/ , 'Re-enactors', and enter 'gaiters' into the search.

There's a wealth of info on this (CiA) website re blancoing old webbing, particularly with regard to the use of Warren's (S&S) liquid 'blanco' ('search' is again your friend, eg viewtopic.php?f=46&t=12932&p=193900&hilit=blanco+liquid#p193900); also on here - http://www.blancoandbull.com/

Hope that helps ......................-- attachment is not available --

Have now had chance to check and whilst the blue/grey gaiters are all slightly differing in size, the one pair, dated 194?, are stamped up as a sz 2 and the other set are only a little larger.
The brown'd webbing ones measure up as sz 3 (max calf dia 34cm).

Remember though when measuring up for gaiters that when you have (thick) woolly socks, leather boot tops to go over and, potentially, thick serge trousers you may need to go up a size or two to when just measuring over jeans or whatever ...................
