The belt looks RAF blue ,which unless you take the chance of it blancoing to a reasonable colour only really any use to an RAF impression, you can pick them up for about £2.
The pouches being postwar with the steel fittings ,I've seen them advertised for a fiver a pair , I bought 7 to use the fittings from ,cost me a quid each.

yeah i just realised it does look blue, but it was bad lighting or shade, either way its not RAF, it was issued to my great uncle who was in a logistics corps. not sure which though.

EDIT: plus you can see in the first photo it is clearly not blue.

I agree with the prices stof has posted. You might get a bit more if you put 'em on eBay, but otherwise, such items can be picked up from militaria fares for such prices. My RAF belts (dated 1940 and 1942) cost me 50p each - I just bought them to use the brasses off of them to replace missing ones on my army ones. 37patt postwar stuff with black fittings is worth even less than postwar stuff with brass fittings - you can by those pouches, unissued for 50p-£1.50 each.

Army belt could be worth anywhere between £10 and £20. Are those steel fittings?

Yes, post war pouches with black fittings I've seen go for as little as 50p each.

Ooo hang on a mo. It has no buckles for the cross straps.

That reduces its value and usability. You can't use it with a webbing set, just as a walking out belt and even then it's not ideal by any means as you should still have the buckles!.

Sentimental value only really...

*cough*splutter*gasp*

Where the heck have you been buying your belts from Yith? I thought £6 was too steep for an un-Blanco'd belt. :)

If anyone wants an army green blanco'd belt for £10 or more, then PM me! I've a small stack I could cash in on at those prices.

Those are the prices I've been seeing recently. Sabre, the source of cheapo belts, has pretty much run out.

I wouldnt pay over £10 for a good condition unblanoed 37 with brass fittings.

Most I've ever paid for one is £9 and that came with a RAC pattern holster!

37 pattern webbing is the one bit of brit kit thats still dirt cheap, at beltring last year I picked up a new set paying on average about £1 an item.

Show me where you can get un-blancoed small packs and e-tool covers for that money and I'll buy them all. MkII and MkIII pouches are going up too.
Large belts in unissued condition are hard to find and thus expensive.

Show me where you can get un-blancoed small packs

W.S. Supplies in Oxford:
Un-issued war-dated small packs £10
Un-issued war-dated (Indian made) large packs £13
Un-issued war-dated Light-weight resi pouch (standard light green or '44patt era jungle green) £3
More...

This particular set in the picture was the ones I purchaced, and posted on to No1_Sonuk with not a single penny of commission taken - 'cos I'm a nice fellow like that...

Most militaria fares you can find this stuff at that price or cheaper if you keep trawling around and do some serious looking (not to mention haggling!)

Most 37 inf belts I see in good condition are over £10 these days when I do see one.
In the South with there being more big fairs you can probably still get them cheap due to competition on price.
I think I paid over £10 for an indian made rep over eBay as I could not find a real one at a good price.

It isn't that they are getting expensive it's just that money aint worth as much these days

Last time i was at war and peace there was a dutch or belgian guy selling 37 pattern items for pennies.

Now *admittedly* i bought up tons of what he had on the thurdays and I'm sure it wasnt there anymore by the Saturday but it can be found...

Last e-tool cover i bought was £1.50 from Anchor Surplus in Ripley near Nottingham about a year ago. They only had a couple left in a bin full of old webbing bits.

I also picked up an envelope type bottle carrier for about the same ammount.

As per the thread, anything from £1.50 to £15 for the carrier.

The actual helve and blade crop up quite a bit as the same pattern was used for 50 years.

Last time I bought a helve and blade it was about 10 years ago... mine cost a tenner then and was 2ndww war dated. That was from Sabre. I'd have thought you could double the price from a major dealer now *but* you can stil find them for bugger all in junk shops and car boot sales.

The helves btw come in the old type that are just a stick with a metal reinforced head and the very late war type with a socket on the tail to put on a no4 bayonet to use as a mine probe.

On the plus side you're only ever going to *hopefully* need one of them and it's the sort of thing that isnt going to rot or fall to bits. It is worth tying the helve to the carrier with a small bit of string as they *can* fall out the loops and you're metres away in the woods before you notice.. post war ones have a retaining strap of webbing sewn on.

They are dead hard wearing but I have managed to break one trying to lever a tree root out....

Having blown up the pic of the belt ,it does appear to have "AM" stamped on it , which would probably mean it is indeed Air Ministry .
