For Blanco see Warren at Shoot and Scoot or Suzy's Surplus on Ebay.

For Gaiters... Try Sabre Sales.

Airborne shouldn't really wear putees, but if you're using modern boots you won't be able to get gaiters to fit. Try Warren or Sabre.

SAS wore puttees

Hmm... trying to put puttees on for the first time. 2 questions: 1. Should they cover the laces? 2. I can wrap them ok, but how the heck do you tie the strip at the end? :?

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Heh... Yes, cover the laces. You should only see a few ladder laces across the flatter part of the shoe.

As for tying... that's hard to explain. When do you need to know? I can show you on Sat/Sun at UCAP...

Do you have the little elasticated things that go round bottom of your trousers at the ankle? Or a medium sized rubber band? It sounds unlikely but I've found that without them the trouser bottoms always work their way out of the puttees but with them they never do.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

The commando trousers I'll be wearing at Glocke actually have some sock tops sown onto the ends. (They were too short, you see...)

How do you know what size gaitors you should have? I have come across sizes 1-3, with 3 being very rare so I assume that is what I need  but how do I know?
Advice please.

erm... generally we just try 'em and see what fits.

2 is usually the smallest you want to go.

Note that sof's sizes are different from originals.

Size 4 in sof is about a size 3 in originals.

My gaiters fit fine over the top of my BD trousers AND modern hi-leg boots (not cut down).

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

I use size 4 Sean, and if memory serves they were from SoF. They go over my wool Trousers and Denims fine, even if they are a swine to fasten.
