Just a quick one.

Have almost finished refurbishing my grandad's old tommy helmet for Wotan and have got the strap back from ingrained dirty black to the original tan colour.

Should the strap be blanco'd?

Please say no.

BTW... Sabre have tons of straps available if you decide to replace it altogether.

The strap looks best tucked on top of the brim.

This was done as a nearby shellburst could lift the wide brim helm up so vigorously it could break your neck.

But I'm more likely to get a tree branch pulling mine off than a shell burst blowing it off so I generally keep the strap under my chin :)

I mean to make it look right.

Mines such a good fit i dont need a strap to keep it on.

Wohoo - no blancoing.

It actually has four metal springs, a pair on each side, covered by cottony material.

Thanks for the advice, just need a helmet net now - will try Sabre Sales.
