Gadge I have 2 problems with your new impression.

1st It means my 5 different uniforms are soon going too be overtacken

2nd what date is the impression for? as post 42 most commandos were issued with stens and wore berets. Commando officers didnt like to encourage the men to were helmets instead of the berets and headover

Five different unifomrs.. pah amateur...

Across the 20th century im ust have over ten spot on loadouts by now.

As it says in the initial post 43/44 is the time

The ressie bag is too late for ealier raids. Kit based around examples of commandoes at d-day and training before.

I should also note that the only thing that makes this impression a commando one is the thompson as it was in service with commando units til 45...

Substitute a sten or 303 and you're looking at a line inf impression.

Refers to earlier comments
I have WWII German (pretty authentic) WWII Para ( dodgy airsoft impression) and Modern UK ( all issue kit ) Plus some odds and sods which are usefull for Durka Durka - Flecky jacket, black combats etc .

Within each loadout I have a variety of "accesories" to match the ground condition .

Ah only just read your comments.

Thompson was still used even up til D-Day, espeically for raids as taking Stens meant taking another calibre of amunition. I've definatley seen phots of army commandoes with m1a1 thompsons on d-day.

Some units went ashore wearing helmets too, cant recall which units but again i've seen a photo of a lifebuoy flamethrower operator hitting the beaches in a helmet..

not sure why a flamethrower op would wear a helmet, if the tank gets hit you are finished anyway.

But how does a lifebouy using compressed air to push out bb's sound?

and dount forget they were issued with para smocks after d-day, :)
you realy should ditch the helmet and use the beret, looks much better to

i would say they had to be the best assult/specialists of the war, best trained, best lead and best equiped,
allways makes me smile to think of the fire power they could bring to bear :)

indeed they were, they just dount look as good as the beret, + it lightens the load on there poor old legs, ( more ammo etc)

we wear the cap comforters, (winter) nice bit of kit, and its supprising how much the RM green shows up even in woodland,
i often get " all we saw was your beret coming out of the bushes" :)

but it cant be as bad as the para maroon :)
