Hi guys,
I'm having a spot of trouble sourcing a Denison smock that'll fit me and wondered if anyone here could suggest where to go.
All the ones I've seen on the internet (and in a few other places) are seriously large and would look like a potato sack on me (even the smalls are coming in at 46" chests and I usually wear Medium/38-42").
Now, I'm not scrawny, but I'm tall (just a hair over 6 foot), so does anyone know where I might be able to get a better sized Denison Smock from?
Thanks in advance.
If you aren't in a rush to order this week Scott I'll have two sizes of Denison you can try for fit at the training day - sizes 4 & 5 from memory. 'Fit' might not be a word to apply to Denisons but I'm sure one or other of those sizes will be comfortable for you.
I don't know if I'm right with this, but originally the Denison smock was meant to be worn over the top of your webbing to avoid snagging on your chute lines, but then they decided that it was better underneath.
"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."
It's supposed to be sack-like
My mate is buying one from WPG. They have 8 sizes that go from M to XXXXL
You could get one made to measure?

They do look like potato sacks when worn and sized correctly. If you see someone wearing one that looks like it fits then it's too small. Have a quick look at some period photos? They will show you just how crappy you should look.

They resolved on a separate garment for snag prevention. They come in green denim and feature two pockets for grenades and a full front zip. They are hard to spot in photos once the chute is on.

Ah thanks guys - thought it was more along the lines of some of the modern smocks (that and pretty much every picture you see them in has the webbing on the outside).
Chommers - I may well take you up on that!
