That was a Rangercamp size 3 - Keith was wearing my size 4. Actually, Orky was wearing my size 4 at Varsity and despite him being a skinny-ribs looked OK although with his height a size 5 would have been better on the arms and body length.

Thanks for the help everyone. Are these the type of gators I should be looking to get? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/British-Army-37-pattern-gators_W0QQitemZ320236208811QQihZ011QQcategoryZ4721QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

almost... but not quite...

They're passable, but post war (or far east) only.

You want brass buckles really.... (a good rule of thumb for all wartime webbing items... you want brass fittings!)

Give Sabre Sales a ring... they have a big stack of suitable wartime ones... not in that sort of condition, but usable.

Look for brass, got it! I'm planning to head down to Sabre Sales with my grant and loan money once my exams are over and buy a bunch of stuff then. Thanks for the tip Yith.

Sounds like a good plan!

The other thing to look for is you want poppers on the main pouches... With those also make sure you get the ones to go on the belt and not the Bren Supplementary ones... to a novice they can look the same!

I noticed in the kit guides section that Greek BDUs could be used, is this the kind of thing that they mean? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Greek-battledress-uniform-40-chest-32-waist_W0QQitemZ180229774414QQihZ008QQcategoryZ4729QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting. Thanks, Greg

There are better Greek BDs around that do not have exposed buttons on the pkt flaps.

Shame about the size.

Greek bds used to be plentiful and cheapish but not as many around now.

Always try to get the type with hidden pkt flap buttons unless you are doing Officers.
