I thought I would ask what weapon I should get.

At the moment I am not allowed to buy one because of... you know laws and such, but after the bulge game I can be in CIA and sort out the laws bit right? That means I can buy a gun after christmas.

As far as I can see Brit weapons are only really done by shoot-and-scoot and I was looking for suggestions/recommendations of what to get.

I am happy to consider the section composition, for a sten or rifle, or any tactical 'holes', such as a sniper or Bren, when deciding.

You chaps are all in the know, I would think, about what works well and such too so I was hoping you would be kind enough to advise me, and aslo nice enough to not be very cross if I ignore your advice eventually.

Thanks
Craig

Anything British is fine (lee enfield, sten, bren etc)

*any* wood stock bolt action rifle is also fine.

Captured Mp40 is fine and at a push so is the thompson.

Get what you are happiest with and fits your budget really...

*but* if money is no object get a lee enfield, sten or bren!

Is there not much call for British sniper support?

A thing to bear in mind is that custom weapons (Shoot & Scoot stuff included) can be pretty unreliable sometimes. I'd only have one with a backup weapon. Get a factory MP40 or a Thompson or a K98 as your primary - cheap, reliable and works with any WWII loadout.

I'd echo those sentiments entirely. Get yourself an AGM mp40, it's bombproof (ish!), cheap, and got me out of custom gun failure repeatedly.

Dont really need a platoon sniper tbh, need to fill up on riflemen more than anything.

Just no4s without sights on...

You'll fight period looking sights virtually useless in airsoft and more of a hindrance than iron sights anyway.

Get an AGM MP40... reliable cheap and flexible... and now with 110 round mags.

So the only British guns are unreliable? That is upsetting.

What about the shoot and Scoot Garrand?

I don't really fancy a German gun, and at least a few commando's (OK primarily officers that I know of) chose a Garrand.

Most of the German Riflemen - armed with Tanaka Mauser's or custom rifles - don't use scopes.

For PBI german guns are far more appropriate than US ones as Airborne forces frequently used captured kit and were trained to do so.

There are numerous accounts of UK lads picking up mp40s, mg34s etc at arnhem when they ran out of ammo.

A garand is better than a modern gun but not really desirable over a k98.

Our Shoot n Scoot Enfields have been super reliable so far.

My AGM MP40 however died completely at Haggard.

Sorry to muddy the water!

the advntage of the AGM MP40 is the price, much cheaper to replace than say a TM or CA make.

The solution to the problem is to have 2 guns at the least. Any gun can break down and leave you in the lurch. But it is less likely to happen with 2 guns. Not impossible mind, I've known people have up to 4 guns break on them over a weekend.

I've now fixed our MP40 and it was nothing major, just the fuse. So you can safely ignore my cautionary post above (provided you routinely carry a spare fuse plus screwdriver at all times).

Thank you all for the muddied waters

I think I will just have to stick with a Brit gun, and build it up from there.

So is Bren overkill?

They do look fun...

Not overkill at all.

They are however incredibly unreliable, we have two in PBI, its a miracle if both function for the whole day.

We'd welcome another Bren any day but you *really* need a backup if you get one, even if its a simple MP001 spring rifle.

If you're pretty cool with gun maintainance and repair then by all means get one, if you're not then really cant recommend an MP40 highly enough.
