At time of purchase, and as current to the website, they only do "WW1 Green", "WW2 Green" and "MP White" bottles, and no "RAF Blue". The webbing turned out neither of the three available colours mentioned! :slap:

I wouldn't buy it anyway as the supposedly greener WW2 example they show on the website just looks like a more shady version of the original khaki cotton web material, and nothing like the rich green shade you get from fresh Blanco. Original (60years+) blanco'd items that I've given several strong washes to clean them are still greener than that, even after they're dry!

Also try getting a quote for bits from Sabre Sales... it'll be mint condition and probably cheaper than SOF.

Hello from across the pond. I have taken a vested interest in blanco because I'm trying to avoid my unit's habit of using house paint. It's the correct shade, but turns the web to rock. Recently I have begun to experiment in my kitchen with making the stuff. I've had suprising success and my first big batch of KG3 will be ready for application and pictures tomorow morning. Took awhile to get the colors right as I was using a KG 3 universal pouch as reference and had to sort out the slight tan color of the cloth coming through. I think I am finally successul. My next color experiment will be for Shade 97 for you early war guys. Espescially as the Shade 97 terrago I received from WPG was WAY off. The KG3 was not much better. The Khaki (what I actually ordered to only receive the screwy Shade 97) looks close enough that I may not bother.

Either way, it is powder and is applied the old fashioned way by soaking the web gear and scrubbing it in with a brush. I made a bright red batch when I was developing the physical chemistry end of things. I applied it to an old brace strap and it not only applied well, but was fairly resistent to water (ran it under the faucet to little effect)

Another update with pictures and the whole bit will be out tomorrow. I'm keeping my recipe a secret, but you can eat the stuff and it won't hurt you. I am getting faster at making it but am still perfecting the process. So if you guys are interested I can send some samples soon (pay for shipping only) for you guys to try out. (have to make sure it's okay to ship a powder in the mail first) lol. my KG3 came out about this color once blended into a tan surface of webbing it will appear a nice bit darker. I looked at a wheel of the powdered KG 3 for my color reference. So it should be close

Finally applied all my blanco and I am quite pleased with it, I used the SOF bottled blanco which managed to cover all the vissible ares, not enough to do the whole thing throughly tho unfortunatly but then means it wont rub off on my Denison.

Wow DT, that look great! :good: That's the new stuff SoF is offering? How is it holding up?

Click

Well it looks alright, but its not waterproof and if you have too much on and your webbing gets soaked it may rub off, so the real thing would be better.
