Me and a few other chaps are putting together an Irish Guards kit and i just have a few questions you might be able to help with.
Firstly I presume the GS cap was the original headgear but did they change to a different colour of beret later on?
Secondly can anyone help regarding divisional patches? I have seen most of the 1st Armoured Guards Division being worn but just wondered if there are any more.

From memory as a foot battalion they wore the GS, it was the armoured battalions who got berets or something like that. Probably worse trawling the westwall game forum.

have had a look qt that forum page but unfortunately dossent seem to be the info i was after. Unless of course the dumbness has over taken and i have missed it completely. Ah well back to trawling web for picture and snippets of info. Cheers for the advise though.

From memory though ithink you're right in that you'll need a GS cap. Unlucky that as they look bloody stupid.... our unit does Hallamshires and we where them too.
If you went for coldstream guards armoured (the carrier platoon) i think you coudl get away with black berets.

Looks like the Brit uniform is Irish Guards. Fairly easy to do. Standard stuff uniform with GS cap, brass cap badge in cap, loads on ebay.
Insignia is:
Irish Guards shoulder titles, green backing, curved ends.
Below that (1"-2") Guards Armoured Division badge. Eye in a Shield.
And that's it... no arm of service or any shit like that. No hackles, badge backings or anything...
