What's the situation WRT tab materials on gaiters?
Most of the repros I see have webbing tabs, not leather.
Webbing is just as valid as a tab material as leather. Both are seen.

Yup. From what I can gather the first ones were webbing and then they moved onto leather later on, but through the large majority of the war both are fine.
There's also Indian ones without any leather on them at all!
In fact a lot of the ones you find in the UK are actually these Indian leather-less ones.
So far, I've owned 7 pairs of war-dated Brit gaiters. All had leather tabs (dates from '40 to '45), except for two pairs ('44 and '45 dated) which were Indian-made. Though I'm not saying they were never made and used (because I do believe they were), I've never actually seen a pair of genuine war-dated Brit gaiters with webbing tabs that weren't Indian-made. Perhaps the leather tabbed ones were produced far more than webbing tabs ones ratio-wise?
