Depends on who he was with with exaclty.

When you say 'very end of the war' we may possibly have some of the 44 pattern stuff that units like the paras were refitted with before being sent to the east but its highly unlikely

Best bet is a set of jungle greens from replicators and a slouch hat from what price glory.

You might be talking about a true 'bush hat' but again these boonie hat type soft hats are very very late war issue.

Rank stripes should be tapes.

odds are the fss band would be locally made

Wonder if any of you can offer some advice.( I suspect this might be right up Yith's street)

I'm trying to put together a uniform based on what my Father would have worn when he was based in the Far East at the very end of the war, specifically I'm after a set of jungle greens and a bush hat.

As Gadge says WPG do some good stuff... Original slouch hats are about though if you want... though I wouldn't skirmish in one!

I have his original jacket/shirt (covered in paint, he used to wear it to decorate in!)

Would love to see pics of this to see what pattern it is and may then be able to make sure you get the right stuff in repro.

and the sergeants stripes are "tapes" rather than the more substantial embroidered ones I'm used to.

Try Monty's Locker. Email Derek there and he'll help you out. He knows me well. http://www.montyslocker.co.uk

Anybody got a source for them. Also were Intelligence Corps shoulder titles worn on greens?

I wouldn't have thought so. Possibly there could be slip ons on the epaulettes, but I'm not sure. I honestly don't know though... but in general shoulder titles were not worn on greens.

And finally the most difficult one, I recall he had an armband, three bands of colour, forest green, black, forest green, and the letters FSS on it, which would have stood for Field Security Service, it was fastened with newey poppers, sadly it's gone astray in one house move or another................. has anyone ever seen anything like that for sale?

I've never heard of or seen one of those, but Derek @ Montys can probably make you one.
