I can only seem to find ones with that have "SS" on them. Any help would be appreciate. I tried to search but couldn't find much of anything.

Thanks!

You can actually just cut off the 'SS' bits and file the edges.

From memory, the originals were hand-made from teaspoon handles, so you could make your own!

But if you do that then you have to put your own attachment points back on as usually they are on the two S's and they'll need moving onto the dagger.

I have had repros made in the past for a couple of quid and could probably do the same again. The awkward bit is the attachments. I've in the past superglued those on and they fell off. I didn't want to solder in case I melted the pewter that they were made from, but I've just done a test solder with some pewter I had about and it seems to have worked. The join is VERY solid indeed and the pewter didn't melt at all.

Anyway I've run out of the badges and will need to get them cast up, so let me know if you want one. It shouldn't be expensive.

For others who have had my badges, if you want me to solder brass loops on them instead of the superglued rod then I will give it a go. I won't guarantee against them melting and I will want a bit of cash to cover postage if that is needed.

Couldn't the loops be fitted to the mold so that the end gets cast into the badge?
That's the way I'd do it if I were to cast them myself.

Unfortunately they couldn't really be put on strongly enough. It would have made the mold complex. I've seen it done with a brass casting and it was rubbish. Much better to solder them on afterwards.

Got any photos?
I can't find any decent photos of what we're talking about here, but I'm thinking a thin wire between the 2 rings could be cast into the back of the badge using an open mold. Basically mold and solder at the same time. The same could probably be done with a rod-type fitting.

BTW, what's the "SS" for?

Here's the thread about them originally.

I'll have to have a word with the chap who does the casting... It'll take a few days or maybe a week or two to get it all sorted. Then I'll send you a price.

How many are you likely to need in total?
