I've just bought a pair of size 10. 49 pattern battledress trousers off ebay and they just seem wrong.. I think they have been altered/narrowed in the leg.. they seem to taper in to an 8" opening at the bottom..
Could someone please give me an idea of how wide the leg of the trousers should be at the bottom and maybe just below the map pocket, that way I have an idea of what to put them back to.. the ad did say officers trousers..
Was it usual for officers to tailor/alter their standard issue uniform..?
I just don't want to look like MC Hammer..
Regards.

Do they have map pocket still? If not then they could have been converted to SD trousers which are narrow in the leg for use with WWI/prewar impressions.
