Unless its dirt cheap and or the correct Belgian type(3 different i believe)then to be honest i would leave alone and save up to get a new Rangercamp or plenty of used WPG ones about which are better than Belgian ones.

The main difference (apart from the fabric) is the colour - dark green and brown, as opposed to olive, ochre and mid-brown. I would agree to save your pennies and try and get a Rangercamp one, if you can.

Also begian smocks are shorter... and the arrangement of poppers and pockets (etc) is totally different.

They're also full-zip, the british ones should be half-zip.

They really are very different and unless you really can't afford a rangercamp one (£100) and are getting the belgian one at about £25 then I'd not bother. In the end its up to you though!

Yith, there are as far as i know 3 types of Belgian smocks.

The 1st type very early ones are EXACT as WW2 smocks and theory is that they were actual Brit surplus ones-only difference is the half zip has been replaced with buttons.
Then there is another 1/2 zip which again in layout is EXACT as 2nd patt Brit.Come in different sizes so could be long or short. These are very very nice smocks in their own right but pattern is slightly different to Brit and the monkey tail attaches to the outside rear of the smock not the inside rear like Brit ones.
Lastly we have the awful(for Brit use anyway)pattern, full zip with press studded storm flap, pockets that close with 3 press sutds etc-NOTHING AT ALL like a WW2 Denison-hell you would be better off with a 59Pattern Denison than one of these :( :(

MP40 was a big favourite with Brits.
