All of a sudden we need to come up with some passable British kit for the Arnhem game.

Bearing in mind we have to buy two of everything we don't want to make any expensive mistakes so can someone confirm that the following is what we need please?

Belgian Para Smock

Thats all sounds pretty good, i've just finsihed the draft of the minimum kit requirements for allied palyers and wil post it up tomorrow.

Make sure the beret is maroon not red and buy a very big one, , modern small ones look worng, russian sized ones look ideal.

They have a large crown and the hang over bit on the side should go over the ear!

Thats all sounds ideal though guys! excellent!

edit: oh get two wwii pattern scrim scarves form sabre sales as well

Thanks all.

If I can stretch the budget I'd actually rather have a helmet than beret. You'd have to be mad to turn up to a war in a beret, especially a maroon one!

I have an airborne helmet liner in fornt of me right now, its not very thick....

There was atheory that helmets only really gave you a psychological advantage against anything other than debris form shellfire, shrapnel and small arms go striaght through them.

Brit airborne generally wore their beret as a matter of pride unless defending and being shelled.

I need to confirm wiht the rest of the team but my draft kit list allows us helmets as brit airborne ones as long as they are trotally covered in hessian and scrim to diguise the shape.

I don't think Shoot N Scoot have any 49 pat trousers any more... the only place I've ever seen them for sale is Suzy's Surplus on Ebay (in the US).

Instead just wear brown/green trousers... they're not that noticeable and a whole lot cheaper!

Give em a 'bell. They're having one of their infamous "reorganisations" at the moment if i remember correctly - they aint gone away, just sorting out their website.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Size 1 or 2 web gaiters are pretty small, unless you have match stick legs you'll need size 3.
You can sometimes find the post war canadian trousers in good large sizes for not much cash. A bit greener than the brit, they were a popular item with Tommy as they were well made and of finer cloth and cut.

Gaiters cost pounds and if you are only going to wear them once go for putees, they only cost about 50p for a pair. I have loads of S Staffs cap badges if you want a few, thats more expense saved.
