Daft question... but what can I do with the "tail" on my Denison? It doesn't have any poppers to hold it on the back, and it always comes loose as soon as I crouch down. :?

Which is what they did in action of course.
But I didn't want to deface my Deni so I swing my tail to the side (fnarr) and popper it to the side adjusters. Keeps it tidy.

right i have now got my denison, scrim scarf and beret, so now looking at bd and boots. i think i read that sabre do ammo boots so i can order them when i get my webbing. i dont have loads of money so need to keep it a bit cheap, and noticed that replicators do a full bd set for £105, are these any good?

I have sets of both Replicator and What Price Glory(WPG) BD's and although the WPG ones are more expensive the quality of the material is much better, the WPG ones cost £120.43 + P&P so if you can afford the extra I'd get the WPG ones.

If you can't afford the extra £15... wait and save up a bit more... it'll be worth it. :)

The exchange rate is certainly in our favour - I nearly blew £265 on the BDU/Denison/Boots package last week (ridiculously cheap) but stopped myself in time with a sharp slap on the wrist . Naughty Chomley - NO!

Assuming they have some left are the belgian denisons from shoot n scoot ok for british paras etc?

Pilgrim, they are good for "counts as" mate. However, when side-by-side with a Rangercamp one, you can see that the colours are quite different, as is the cut and the fabric.

Looks like a Belgian one to me. £47.50 posted! At that pric you should definately wait and buy something better.
You should be able to pick one up at a military fair for £20-30 - has Warren at Shoot 'n Scoot not got any left?
Due to the exchange rate stuff from the states is cheap now - a Denison should be about £88 posted. The SoF (Rangercamp) one is £107.50 posted.

No chance

It would be handy though if people had examples of various smocks to post pics, details etc as i have said before that buying these nasty Belgian smocks is false economy even for people on a tight budget-save up and you will be much happier with a decent smock

If £25 is all you have got then that's all you have got - no reason not to be happy with a Belgian Denison (I still have mine in a box for loaning - it's actually a much more useful and practical bit of kit than a 'proper' denison!).
CiA would much rather people spent £25 and had money to actually play a game (which is what this is all about - it isn't a collector's or reeacting organisation) than spend £100 and sit at home in it!

After all, when the time comes it can be sold on for what you paid for it (£25 not £50 from militarymart!) to someone starting out and would be glad of 'looks-like' kit.

False economy? Don't think so - does the job, just don't pay over the odds. :good:

But if they're going to be so short of cash they'd need to buy a belgian then they may be best trying to borrow one of the spares that a lot of people here have available rather than wasting their money on buying one...

Borrowing - that's a given. We need people who play - getting on for 600 registered users of this forum and we are still scrabbling for players. Too much emphasis on correct kit and not enough players is not good, potential new recruits are being given the wrong impression. Belgian denisons were fine for the Arnhem game and they are still fine today...
