Forgive my ignorance guys (and I've tried searching for the answer) but is the Denison smock sold by WPG the Rangercamp one that everyone raves about or a different one? I'm putting a basic Brit' loadout together in anticipation of the proposed e&e game in June (and for the odd open day) and am almost there, barring jacket and trousers. I was hoping to order both from WPG but only if their smock is any good. SOF are pissing me off at the moment and, frankly, I don't want to give them my business.

It's not just for the proposed game Guy, I also want to go to a few open days and you know me, I like good quality kit! I could also be tempted to "go allied" for a future CiA game, even if it's not e&e.

 I think the wife is resigned to me being a big kid for the forseeable future! Anyway, I've been divorced once, so I'm better prepared if it happens again!

From memory they all raved about the Rangercamp one , which at some point you could buy directly from them .

There's also Sanjays option...suggest Gadge / Yith best to advise as they probably own several of each flavour :D

The one available at SoF (cough spit!) is actually the Rangercamp manufactured one these days, and at the price, not bad at all. The Sanjay's one, though OK, suffers from weak poppers, the colours aren't 'spot on', and the dye isn't particularly colourfast.

Afraid i dunno about the WPG one, not seen one in the flesh.

WPG ones are their own and the wrong colour, much to green/grey.

Get the SOF half zip, its the best you can get short of a military tours one or an original

I'm determined to not buy from SOF. They've taken 10 days so far to NOT deliver an order of basic stuff. Also, I have a lot of money in my paypal account and SOF don't take it. Is there anyone on ebay doing Rangercamp half zip denisons?

There are, best bet is to read up on the multiude of threads on WWW.WWIIreenacting.co.uk.

There should be a list of traders there

Dont get the spearhead one, its a bit duff.

I hope i dont offend anyone who already owns a WPG smock but unless you can buy one dirt cheap i wouldnt bother.
As a wearable jacket they are fantastic quality wise and bombproof but as a spot on WW2 Denison they certainly arent.

If buying new then a Rangercamp is certainly the way to go or look out for a used K&C/G Max/Military Tours one.

Best of luck.

Thanks David and to all who've offered advice. I always seem to miss the ones on the sales threads!

Richard the guy who runs rangercamp also is happy to trade kit.

I got mine for free by swapping him my old sas smock.

He was after modern UK DPM, especially unusual kit.
