Speaking to Guy i was saying that my main thught was that the weather was apaling making a lot of folkl leave.. and Guy said why did the germans stay then...
i think the answer might simply be 'wool'
90 per cent of the german players were in wool uniforms that still insulate while wet (and most under a zelt too)
However the majority of us players were in cotton jump suits which once wet simply dont keep you warm.
I think this is reinforced by the fact the only player on the german side in HBT which was Niel was complaining that he wished he'd brought wool as he was freezing in HBT (now i know he's south African and will prob feel it more)
Now on the allied side how many UK player stuck it out and might wool battledress agian have kept them comfier.
I'm just wondering if its something as simple as being really cold because of the kit not being suitable

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
But it wasn't cold! I was warm all night, in fact too warm at one point.
They're just pussies... ![]()
