Got a PM from Whoswill?

"Stephen,

Just a quick line to say thanks for the weekend, I had pretty high hopes for the event and for the time I was there it exceeded them all. From the camping on Friday up until we left on Sat I couldn't have asked for more, (other than to have packed a spare pair of trousers). I also wanted to apologise, I was probably a bit useless on Saturday, however it was my first airsofting event as well as my first WW2 one, so lessons have been learned. I'll also be learning the hand signals and using resources other than BoB for tactical advice!

Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks again as I know it must have been a pisser when so many left on Sat night, I'm ordering some new trousers from AtF, as well as having these repaired. Nowt's stopping me short next time.

Cheers

Tom"

Well, I'm going to add my own.

Guy, you did a fantastic job on this game. Quite apart from the time and effort building the armaments, the energy you put into running the game over the weekend was monumental - you ran yourself ragged.

I struggled to recall a days airsoft I have enjoyed more. The weather was a nightmare, glad the German forces rallied together and did you proud.

I hope you enjoy the positive comments (even from those who left early) - when chaps are warm and dry they will look back and realise they had just taken part in something very special.

Final comment: CW loves HG!!!!!

Yes, despite some frustration at the end I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I get the impression most others did too.

The one thing we couldn't control, the weather, was effing horrible. I sure those who stayed got a lot more out of the weekend.

I was truly amazed by the comradery of the Germans. Despite the best a attempts to raise Allied spirits (we even tried singing songs under the tarp last night) I think the under-preparedness of the players bit them in the ass and made them give in. That, and they were a bunch of pussies. I was amazed that some of them who'd stayed the night in the pissing rain didn't want to play this morning when the weather was fine.

Although I got very wet I never felt cold throughout the weekend. You could say I was as warm as Chomley's trousers!

Cheers Guy for organising an amazing weekend, I'm sorry if some of my misunderstanding about what was to happened this morning made things go FUBAR, if it's any consolation the four players who decided to come and patrol with Yith and I said they really enjoyed it.

Ditto to all the above.

You can be extremely proud of yourself. Lesser organisers would have given up well before the end... You kept it together. Well done!

Again a big thanks to Steve. Mate, you're a natural leader, way better than I could ever be. Keep up the good work!

After the effort of the 6 of us on the Sunday Morning I'd like to suggest giving the 4 of us who were not organisers and hence did not have the responsibility to keep playing a special title on the forums as a token of our gratitude. I know that without the feeling of responsibility my will may have faltered on the Sunday morning in the face of the long trek in wet clothes after a relatively tough night and the breaking of camp and the shifting of all the kit back to the car to look forward to later.

If you can find some German players to reward in the same way then that would also be great...

I wouldn't like to single out anyone on the German side for special thanks, that would be quite invidious - we started as unit and ended as a unit (very nearly!). Heap praise on your four privately by all means...

No, I wouldn't like to publicly pick them out either.

That seems to be happening by the Germans/Allies-who-left anyway.

I'd like them to be named somewhere... at the very least so we don't forget...

I know there was Morgs and Steve D., Airborne and one other guy...

But what are their real names (etc).

Well gents , my own take on the weekend .

First off apologies for being in a somewhat foul mood at end ex. As some of you may gather my work has been increasing shite for me most of this year , and hence why I threw myself wholeheartedly into CR to compensate.

CR was my baby from the start , and I wanted it to be a spectacular event. I knew that it would take a lot of contrivance to keep the game flowing on such a big site, but my vision of the air raid and having such an outrageously large prop to blow up kept me going . I didn

Well done on it all Guy i had cracking time and was pretty much prepared to slog through sunday, it was only when the three of us went to our basha to quietly discuss weather i could. hack a day of it wihtout painkillers that we discovered the basha had flooded the other guys kit!

Still i enjoyed myself, met some great guys and would do it again even though although ex mod im not too into being out in the woods overnight these days (miss my hair straighteners...)

Brought a few old skills back though like bashas and getting wet wood to burn...

I really think you're doing yourself a disservice Guy, by all accounts so far the event was neither poor, nor a wash-out....unless you're talking very literally of course.

The sneaky attack came to mind once we were into the game and I didn't have the opportunity to pass on the info. I could have used the Dutch but just couldn't find them.

I thoroughly enjoyed the camping and felt that the remoteness of the Allied camp only added to the feel of the event...it's clear that not everyone else felt that way. Clearly they wanted comfort and ease.

By the end of Sunday I felt so downtrodden and having constantly tried to keep the Allies chipper (even waking them with a reveille on my MP3 player and singing cadence marches to makes the schleps seem shorter) I just got fed up. With only four players left with Yith, I tried to make the best of it.

In the end I had to spend 5 minutes to just take a deep breath and not let my frustrations towards others get misdirected. I recognised that my rising anger was not about the situation I was in, but was more about how so many Allies had let me (and us) down by simply wimping out...despite the numerous threads and messages on here about the need for preparation.

I think it was success.

I think the fact that even those who left early are praising it as eing a great event hsows that.

The only folk really down about it we *knew* were going to hate it, heb etc...

Guy, I think you're doing yourself a disservice. This event was exactly as it was pitched "Live as a Landser, Tommy or Yank for a weekend". And thats what it was. Pure and simple.

It is, in my mind, the ONLY airsoft event i've ever attended that successfully married Airsoft and Reenactment. It bought out the worst in some people (people not turning up with the right kit for the job etc etc), but it brought out the best in the majority of people. People worked together. People helped each other out. People looked at the weather as just another part of the experience. You look at any "normal" Airsoft weekender, people just stay in their little cliques. That - at least from the German POV - didn't happen. The whole side gelled as a team.

Guy, it may not have gone entirely to plan, but fuck me, what a weekend! :D

I'm appreciating all the nice comments here fellas, and I'd agree I think the Germans had a cracking weekend, they did live like Landsers for 24 hours.... it's a shame we couldn't provided the same level of intensity to keep the other players happy enough to stay . When half the people go home I feel I have not done the best for our punters . Anyway lets move on .

At some point I'd like to return to IEd to possibly do a WWII E&E , downed bomber crew type thing, but that wont be this year , and I reckon it would be a private invite only job .
