We ought really have the next game being nailed down so that we can announce the usual three or more months ahead.

Could we sort one down south as 2008 was East Anglia, Shropshire, North Wales, Bolton?
One Russian and one MTO game plus two others would be awesome.
I went past the airsoft site at Stoke the other week - a big derelict factory. Shall I have a word with Guzzihero and see if it would work as Staligrad? (I'm not sure whether outside is in-play so need more info...)

PBI are planning:
January 24th or 31st (ish) training day
End of March, say the 22nd or 29th - PBI presents 'Normandy Nightmare - Saint Lo' - US Airborne vs Waffen SS hedgerow fighting (prob grange farm as the berms would make wicked bocage) *or* an urban site for the town itself.
June/July (21st/28th?) PBI VS KGSS Private battle. 'Operation Lightning' "cdo vs 9th SS fighting alongside pro axis and communist partisans.

I'd like to book UCAP again. I think that should definitely be on the schedule as many are clamouring to return, plus it's in the south. Two birds, one stone.

What months are you thinking for the games?

Regarding sites down south, as well as UCAP, SpecOps have two interesting sites. One is a system of limestone quarries (would make a good North Africa) and they also have a 2000 Acre woodland site. Oh, none of that gay "not over 328fps" shite either.

If a return trip to UCAP is on the cards, then it would make sense to do it when the days are short (or the weather is crap)

Yes, that SpecOps quarry site would be awesome!
Also agree on UCAP - easy in the sense that we don't have to recce, just come up with a good scenario and the punters will roll up. And agree, short cold days would make it ideal for a Nov/Dec game (or even at the beginning of the year in Feb).

We already have the 'Fealful Silence' site (up near Guy) sorted which would be good for a single day spring or summer game so that just leaves a slot for a 'big' site suitable for a summer weekender.

Proper weekender?

Really not keen on the 2hrs gaming on Sunday way of doing it - just seems like a fag end to it all.

I like the look of the quarry site but how big is it? Also, with so much open space would it be a decent site for a game?

Yes, I think we are agreed on the 'no little bit on Sunday' thing.
I suppose I meant a 'big' game - Fearful and UCAP will be 'small' games, constrained by site size/player numbers/overnight camping.

midlands (Bryan )
north (Husky)
north (BulgeII)

first game next year would be nice to be down south , what about UCAP in March/ april . Good to start the year on a stormer and might piss on PBIs effort as well as a side effect   :ghey:

Hi all

I've mentioned in the members forum that we'd looked at the Spec Ops quarry and people got quite excited.

I had this PM from Boshman:

Dunno if it helps at all but my brother, Ian Boshier helps to run the Spec-Ops woodland site and as such is good friends with Mike Jefferies who runs The Rock. Having just played the Carentan game with me, my brother is well up for more WWII games so would certainly be willing to help persuade Mike to put a WWII game on at The Rock.

Could come in useful.

Bumped into Gaz (Ewart) on Saturday and I asked him how things were going at Fireball. He had a disinterested look in his eye (so I'm guessing he isn't trying to organise stuff there now) but he was wildly enthusiastic about a site he is playing at all the time now, just round the corner from him. It's Swynnerton. (I mentioned a short while ago that Jamie-F&0 was planning a WW2 game there next year and you had all heard of the site).

The open days there are holding there don't seem to be big affairs so they don't seem to mind low numbers. Is it worth us approaching them?

Re: our chat today thought I'd PM you all the details see what you think.
His website: http://www.op-tactical-uk-events.co.uk/index.htm
Here is an air shot of the camp. [url]http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=52.898989&lon=-2.227104&z=15.3&r=0&src="msl[/url"]
It runs from the sandy area (land fill site) to the railway line at the south, just past the water - lake thingy.
There is under ground hospitals and everything. It is a cool site, but unfortunatly its all subject to the MoD not using it at the time.
Oh and Rob who runs it even managed to get Major out of retirement to help run things.
Hope it helps.
Gaz

I've been to Swynnerton a few times way back when I was a cadet instructor, bloody interesting place!

Yep, great place. Pretty close for me too.

On a completely different subject, what's happened to Major? Any word?

Everyone I have spoken to recently haven't been able to get Andy to reply - I'll ask on Sunday if Keith or Dell have made contact recently.

Curious Gaz mentioned getting 'Major out of retirement to help run things'. Not sure if he means 'our' Major - but I'll find out!

I'll make enquiries about Swynnerton then...

I caught up with Andy about a week and a half ago. Seems pretty down again (ISTR that he's *always* been down in the run up to christmas)

I'll see If i can catch him later on today.

I've been speaking to Chris White about the Stoke site but unfortunately they lost it over Christmas - it was rather small anyway.

Still, the new Phoenix urban site in Chesterfield is a candidate for a Russian game and I'm making enquiries on behalf of CiA.

The Urban consists of Multiple buildings from one room to numerous . underground rooms. warehouse's. and a new Embassy and adjoining all this is a small woodland. Whether holding a location for extraction, storming a rebel stronghold or searching for intel this location is awesome. But be cautious in your advances as this terrain is well suited to snipers. Dont forget the hidden underground rooms.

Before I forget.... I had a phone conversation in early November (I think) with Gadge.

PBI are planning a game at Longmoor on the Remembrance Sunday weekend. I think Gadge has been encouraged by Monaf to run a better event than Gunman did (who I suspect is also vying to run an event there again - I could be wrong). Monaf of course tried to get CiA to snatch Longmoor from Josh's hands last year, if you remember.

Anyhoo, Gadge asked if CiA would like to make it a joint venture as it is a pretty big task and they would need the numbers. Rules would be along CiA's not PBI's as will kit levels and the scenario would be Oosterbeck.

Well, I didn't dismiss the idea and said it would be best to discuss it with the CiA team face to face at the December game. I didn't because:
a) there wasn't the time
b) conditions weren't conducive
c) you would dismiss it out of hand anyway

So, there you are, information passed on before I forgot!

Not sure I want to ride on Josh's coat tails either.

Worth talking about, but do we really have the time and inclination to run such a massive event?

I'm not sure on the numbers required but I don't think it would be a massive event, just more than a 15-a-side PBI event.

Hmm

Several thoughts

1 Been a bit nicer to have this thrown out earlier , similar approaches about Catterick were circulated immediately ...we did stand around in the cold for 4 hours at HNebel when it could have come up . Anyway immaterial now ...just an observation for future ...and no.... I'm honestly not having a big throbber over it .

2 Longmoor - yes a bit in Josh's shoes ...been there, seen it, done it , why would we get more than 40 , esp if we had to charge £80+.

3 Prefer to do our own thing, not keen to work with G or Y again , esp not on a mega event . Also feel like it's a Monaf use CiA to make Josh look bad ....no interest in being a pawn bewtween two nobbers.

4 Agree with Stephen ...can't be assed with it TBH in a same way as Caterrick was too daunting . More for making our four lives easier than anything else
