So, dragging myself away from more pressing matters (alright, mentally, im trying to escape from a few things at the moment) I found myself thinking about CiA and the direction in which it's going. Needless to say, me being the gobby shite I am, I thought of a few things that could do with developing/modifying/changing (well, IMHO anyway), so here's the list:

1: The format for Jedburgh worked exceptionally well. Start at mid-day saturday and finish the same time Sunday. People get a shitload of time to get "into it", but also have the option of rocking up saturday morning if they want - and given how remote and spread around the country the sites that we have used are, thats no bad thing. If punters can be on-site on the friday night, all well and good. It means they can be tanked up but still have plenty of time to sort themselves out the following morning. No boozing on the Saturday night is advantageous as well - less hassle getting them into it on the Sunday morning.

2: We're too cheap. Yup, in the past I've argued for a low price - and I now think that i'm wrong. In the long term, I think we're doing ourselves down. We should be looking at £45 for a weekender these days. Hell, have a look how much other event organisers are charging (£85+ for less game time) and I start to think that we're priced way too low.

3: Cost per site, not per head is the way to go. Yes, its a tad more risky - but it has major benefits.

4: I think that one day events are starting to look more and more like a waste of time unless the site is something really special, or a weekender is simply unsustainable on that site. Personally, I find it a right cunt to spend £80 on petrol getting to and from a site just for a single days game.

Anyway, just a few musings.

I agree on all points Jay. Personally, I've always preferred weekend games anyway, as it feels like more of an "event", something to look forward to. Our players have proved that, if we provide the story and framework, they are mostly capable of being more or less self sufficient!

That's something thats worth highlighting. Should we push the "you won't be nursemaided, this is an event for adults that have their shit well and truly sorted" aspect more?

agree on all of it but the cost, we are cheap because we are volunteers not rip of site owners...IED charge 40 for their weekends with similar amount of fun and time in the field .

If we decide then we should slowely add a fiver a game ot the fee , up to an agreed limit to ease it in , rather than jump to £85 .

People can do the maths mate. If we charge £45 for a weekend, yet others are charging £85, people are thinking "fucking hell, thats 40 quid cheaper than other weekenders"

Agree with ramping up though.

**edit - no way i'd want to charge anywhere near £85!!!!!!!!***
