Our woodland site is set in a 600 acre forestry plantation near Keighley in the heart of Yorkshire. Set on one of the highest hills in the area and backing onto Ilkey Moor the site sometimes seems to have it's own micro climate and offers many new challenges to players of all standards. The view from the plateau is incredible, on a clear day we've seen a power station 43 miles away, it's a tough climb to the top though.

The site has some steep slopes, many rocky areas with some huge boulders, roads, tracks, streams, caves and trees, millions of trees.

This site is not for the feint hearted and you need to be on top of your game to play here, the terrain and weather can make it hard work and that's before the enemy hunt you down.
That said, the site offers a real sense of achievement and can be hugely rewarding for those players who take on the challenge.

I think that Guy may have some contacts there - its run by some blokes that used to play at the IED events IIRC.

Review here http://www.airsofthaven.co.uk/index.php ... &review=25

Postcode for site BD20 0LS. Had a look on google maps and it looks good. Possibly an alternative for Devils' Hill? The review mentions camping as well :happyclap: .

600 acres sounds to be a weekender event to do it justice. Perhaps we could repeat the Jedburgh format of play? (12noon -12noon)

12 to 12 is a good format for a weekender. Leaves plenty of time for people to get there then go home without buggering up the friday or monday.

Plus, lets be honest, driving hundreds of miles sometimes seems like a waste when its only a day long game....

It also saves the hassle of punters fannying about before we start, as they have adequate time to sort their shit out.

Hi David.
Thanks for your email. I’m sure we could sort something out that would work for us both, we might even do you a discount if we can shoot Yith again ;-)
I don’t know where you live but if you’d like to have a look around the site and a guided tour let me know.
Regards,
Andrew.

Thanks Andrew.
Half the fun of WW2 events, if I'm honest, is shooting Yith.
The five of us are all over - I'm in Derby, Stephen in Halesowen, Pete in Willenhall, Jay in Sandhurst and Guy currently in Banbury. Do you know Guy (Oldsweat) - played at IED for a while?
Anyhoo, we travel all over so a site recce would be great! We have an event planned for the 3rd October down at Close Action but we can't arrange camping for that weekend so we are looking to change venues and Keighley looks like it would be a much superior substitute.
I'll relay the good news to the team and get back to you to arrange a visit.
Many thanks
David

:mexican: Anyone who says that about Yith gets my vote! Well, I'm free next weekend if anyone else is?

I have a visit to the inlaws arranged for Sunday 21st (haven't seen them for 14 months  ) but I'm clear on Saturday. If needs be I can go to inlaws on Saturday, I doubt they would mind swapping days.

I've got a joint birthday party for my Nephew and Stu next saturday, so, as long as I'm back home by 1500hrs, I can do that if it's better. On sunday, (as long as I've had time to get the booze out of my system!) I'm ok for early afternoon onwards. I'd say, ideally, we need as many of us as possible for a recce.

Its two hours to site from my house, not sure how long a recce would take on such a big site but not less than two hours I'd say. If you come to mine first that's an hour on top x 2. Eight hours minimum o/a.

Well, according to google maps, it's 2 1/2 hours from my house. So, if it's the same (or almost) from yours Dave, I can do that. Would mean an early(ish) start for me to get back in time to cook party food and start drinking in good tme!

I can't make Saturday 20th got something on the morning to attend to.

Sunday 21st is still a goer. We'll either combine it with a trip to my brother's in Manc the night before, but if he's busy we could drive up the M6 and pick Pete up on the way on the Sunday morning.

I say we, because Kerstin loves that part of the world so would like to come along. She'll take a walk on Ilkey Moor whilst we dick around on site.

OK, would need to know which day you were plumbing for so I can make plans.

Incidentally, here's an overhead. Not sure if the site is the wooded area to the east, or west. I imagine it's the one to the east:

Hold your horses, getting a bit ahead of yourself there!
I haven't even got confirmation that we can even be accommodated next weekend yet. :slap:

Hold my horses? It's 4 days until the weekend!

Incidentally, we don't need permission to access the land, according to the OS Map there are public footpaths running across the site and the land around it is open access. I'm pretty sure it's 'High Moor' shown on this map: http://bit.ly/9njarp

As long as we know the site's boundaries we could go there whenever to scope it out.
