Cheers, thanks for the info. I've known him for the past year and was aware that he had had a reenacting past as well as memorabilia/surplus dealing. A couple of us have been to his house, met his family and so have address and telephone numbers. He is working as a security guard, last I heard.
So, we'll keep our eyes and ears open - let's hope it's all in the past. Once again, thanks for the word to the wise.

I always give the benefit of the doubt until proved wrong with everyone . Syd's a bit of a plonker 9like us all ?) , but I still reckon he's ok AFAIK .
