Although time is now short we might still be able to sort out a display promoting WW2 airsoft in general and CiA in particular. PLI would be covered under AFRA and so exhibitors will need to get signed up - so £20 will be the only cost for the whole weekend as it is free entry.
It is going to be a bigger event than last year but it's still small enough to be friendly. Das Reich will be there so I daresay Dell will be with them. Helga is doing her thing, Yith is doing the Chindit display again.
Should be a good weekend, might do some good (rather than harm as per Josh at Beltring).
argghhhh a weekend before A2c2 ???? Maybe not , thought it was in August
Got the answer back - there is space if we want it.
Over the weekend I spoke to some CiA regulars about the idea and response was positive so the concept is a go-er - how it's implemented is another issue!
Ahaa now migth be able to do this , eine summer party mit der boys sehr gut !
Our approach might be two-fold. Showing the reenactors that we aren't such a farby lot and spreading the word but also telling MOP - 'you can do this too!'
I'm totally game even if it's just the four of us plus che !
If we are sure we can have the site , what about insurance ?
We will all need AFRA (or private arrangement as Che has or other reenactor PLI). Another incentive to get participants to join up! The event itself is free of course.
I won't know any more about arrangements until bloke is back from Normandy at the end of this week.
I am pleased to announce that this year we are going to provide a FREE hog roast on the Friday night to all re-enactors who are booked into the show. We appreciate that for many of you, the Friday is the main setting up day (although some of you were there from Monday last year !!) So, we've raided the piggy bank and got rid of the washers and buttons and found some cash to put this on for you all just to get you in the mood.
top banana!
Sorry, don't know if there is a veggie option to the hog roast!
I think that Guy misread it as "spit roast"...

very good .
Spent the whole of 1991 HAMC Kent Show living off vodka and doughnuts as a result of a hotroast only venue menu ... mind you had a mad numpty called Dawn with me to keep me company
Right, with my sensible head on (fuck knows how, im a bit pissed), if we do this, then we need a theme to the display - something that ties it all together.
Ideas?
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress

Heh, tricky one as we need to cover Brit, US and German - so under what circumstances would they be together?
Temporary POW holding compound?
Surrender negotiations?
Dressing station?
Temporary POW compound would make sense.
We dont have the right kit for a dressing station, and no-one is high enough rank for surrender negotiations!

Heh, out with Jay's barbed wire then
Ah Feck!!!
This sounds great but I'm currently going to be in The Lakes on these dates, although a little jiggery pockery and I could be free....need to think about the practicalities first.
What about "small command post" ...we got radios, Enigma, officers uniforms....command tent....possible a small command Horch ...and it's where some Ami prisoners have been brought back for interogation ....could have a small cooking station as well . We could alternate with the MG42 gun position ?
If Chommers bings his brit gear we could swap it about perhaps ot have captured Germans , or a command post just captured.....
OK, I'm up for this but I will only be able to get there on Friday evening and will have to leave on Sunday late afternoon. So set-up might be an issue but pack away should be fine.

The nice thing is that individually we don't need to commit to three days - as long as we know who is coming when then that's fine, a rota will ensure we maintain a minimum staffing level.
Considering this will be the first "display" that CiA have done, i'm inclined to go for the very simple approach. Split the stand space into three areas. Brit one side, Yank the other, German in the middle, nowt fancy.
If this all goes OK, then we can do something a bit more impressive the next time...
